View Full Version : AMSOIL MCF Moly
Does the Mo in an analysis chart stand for Molybdenum? AMSOIL MCF shows 43 ppm for Mo and the Mobil1 Gold Cap is 78. I know that the HP4 Honda oil with no moly has more Moly that 43 in it.
Yes;

Has anyone used AMSOIL MCF yet? Its only $6 per quart?

I'v been using Amsoil since 3K mi on my ST and now have 6600 mi. on it. I have had no problems and I actually think it helped my mpg a little. If you go to the dealer they 'll tell you how it will ruin your clutch/gears because it's is "too slipery." My dealer went so far as to tell me that the "hard shifting" from one gear to another was "good" for the clutch/gears. Check out Amsoil's web page. They will stand behind their oil if it causes any damage due to their oil. It also gives me some piece of mind when the Honda manual says you don't have to change the oil after the 1st one @ 1K mi. until 8K mi. On dino oil I would'nt trust it but I do with syntetic in my STeed.

FWIW, my Suzuki 800 Intruder developed clutch-slppage problems after 12,000 - 15,000 miles when I was ignorantly putting automotive oil in. My guess is that problems with slippage, if they're going to occur, will not happen so soon. With the ST I try to be careful about Moly.

The AMSOIL MCF has lower moly than the Honda HP4 no moly blend.

Funny thing is, my dealer carries Amsoil now...:)
Regards,
Good to know. Thanks!
Hey nurseBob,
I called a dealer and we can get 12 bottles for 69 bucks plus 8 shipping. Do you want to split the shipment? I can ride your share over to you when the weather breaks.

Sure! I'd be happy to split a case. I look forward to meeting you (either here, or halfway).

Just a thought; for $20/year you can be an Amsoil Preferred Customer and get dealer prices. This works well if you're buying over $100/year worth. I just ordered a case of 10-40 MCF for $57 and I'll be delivered. Since I was there I picked up some engine flush, gear oil and filters while I was at it.
If someone close by doesn't want to be a PC but would like me to order some of this for them, let me know. And no, I'm not looking to become a dealer, just looking to help if anyone wants to try this stuff.
The PO of my '98 ran Molbil One as I recall so I want to keep it on synthetic.

Just an FYI....AMSOIL does not recomend you use the engine flush in the ST because of the wet clutch system. It is said that it can make it feal gummy...
