I've had my '93 for a few months now but it's missing the left-side scoop & tube that looks like a vacuum cleaner hose. I also noticed a lot more summer heat on my left leg than right. (Not a problem now). My uncanny grasp of the obvious connects these bits of info.
Where does the tube connect?

TIA

Only the '91 STs came with snorkles on both sides. My '92, and all the later ones I've seen, have one only on the right, where it cools the fuel shutoff (and the fuel, obviously).

It is widely accepted that Honda removed the 2nd snorkle to help avoid carb icing in cold weather, but I don't think Honda has ever commented on the matter.

The ST1100 had 2 snorkels in the early years, the left one was deleted around '93. IIRC the right tube directed cooling air in the direction of the vacuum shut off valve ***. while the right side dumped cold air into the "V" amongst the carbs. It was determined that the tubes contributed to carb icing in cool humid conditions, thus the deletion of the tube. I experienced carb icing on a few occasions with my '11 and plugging the right scoop with a rag cured it so in my mind it was probably the reason. The snorkel can be ordered (right and left are interchangeable), and re-installed. The holes are still in the right places to accept the screws. Many warm weather riders have added the right side with no ill effects. HTH

92, I stand corrected on the date.
