I went to college in Golden at The School of Mines and the members of the Sig Ep fraternity would often 'acquire' highway department hard hats and vests with cones and , using walke-talkes , block off the road up to Buffalo Bill's grave with all it's turns and switch-backs, for members to test out their TR-3s, Austin-Healy 3000s, XK-Es, (pre-Cobra). ( I'm dating myself)

Not once did they get caught. "I'm sorry the road is closed while some equipment is being moved around." The people always had an out and get-away cars were at both ends.

Our STeeds are not racers nor are we, but it's always nice to know that there's not someone coming around that corner that you've got yourself perfectly lined up for.

Just a thought....from my misbegotten college days.

John,

Great story. Boy, it sure would be fun to run the ST's on that road and not worry about cars coming the other way. Do you think you could get your frat brothers to close the road for an ST run?:D

I've taken a couple of short courses offered by the school over the years, it's a great mining school. And I've driven the road to Buffalo Bill's grave a number of times, but always in a car.

So, are there mines in San Francisco?
