My 98 ST1100 has a nice Corbin Rumble Seat on it. Problem is, the folding backrest takes up a bit too much of the passenger seat as compared to a Honda backrest or a back pad on the top box. Since the SO is not a barbie doll, that presents a problem. Not that I mind her being close during rides, but not when it presses me against the "tank" that far.

So, I'm considering trading the seat out for a STock saddle as modified by Sergeant, but I haven't heard anything about them for the 1100. The 1300 pilots seem happy with theirs which is a good sign. Any 1100 owners (current or not) have any opinions or suggestions?

Anyone want the Corbin when I trade it out?

I have both the STock seat and the Corbin ... I love the Corbin 'bucket' and use it 90% of the time ... the stock seat foam squishes after an hour and it becomes unbearable .... it's lousy like 90% of all other stock seats.

I'm keeping both just in case ... :)

What are you asking for the seat?

$50.00 plus shipping in the US. It came from a 96, but it should fit any model of ST1100. I changed to a Corbin at about 15,000 miles, so it has not been used for a while.

I've ridden about 30,000 miles on a Sargent modified ST1100 seat including an SS1000 and I'm very happy. It's a huge improvement over stock and I like the aesthetics of it. If you want all out comfort go with a Russell, but I think the Sargent is a good compromise. I went one step further and installed a Utopia driver's backrest, in fact my bike and seat are shown on their website at http://www.utpr.com/st1300.html

Thatks, Reg, I recall you getting that done over on My MC. I recall Martin thinking it was a bad idea :) Looks good, but I ride in the STock position so I don't see that the backrest would do me much good. The Corbin I have actually works well for one up. When folded down it makes a good spot to slide back to. But alas, I need the passenger space as well. But it's good to know the sargent seat is nice. I'll have to get both parts of the seat done. How long did it take to get yours done?

You're right about a backrest being useless in the stock position. I have higher bars and highway wings so I use it a large percentage of the time.

I had the seat done during winter and here in the Great White North that lasts a while, however if memory serves me correctly they turned it around in about 1 week. Sargent was great to deal with, they even sold me the exact Carbon FX fabric so that the backrest would be a perfect match.
