To Mr Jackpine Savage,
I could meet you at a the intersection of Hwy 61 and I80 on Friday, late morning. Maybe near 10:30 or 11. I was going to ride I74 to Peoria then go cross country as much as possible. I think my Mapsource program said about 5 hours for me from Muscatine. If you have Mapsource, send me a private message and I'll attach it to an email. I'm staying in Greenup. I'll want to get there early enough to check in and get back to Richards for the dinner buffet.

You know, it seems like we really should be able to get Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, South Carolina, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachussets, New Hampshire, Maine, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska to join us... Doesn't anybody have friends in these places?

2 Questions Steve!!!
# 1 ~~~ What was you doing to your bike???
# 2 ~~~ The Backrest on your bike,,, is it the Sargent/Pirates lair one??? It looks smaller than mine in the photo... I wish mine wasn't so big... On my Connie I had a Corbin with an Oval backrest... It sort of looked like a donut... :D Well,,, anyway,,, it was the small Oval backrest and my helmet,,, fit,,, PERFECTLY,,, over it!!! I would just get off,,, and set my helmet over it... The Perfect place when you stopped and ran in for a,,,
"I am going in and get 13 "Little Debbie Snack Cakes/Chewy Granola bars and a Diet Vanilla/Cherry Dr Pepper" (((got to cut calories back somewhere)))
I have the Handlebar Lock Thingy's but,,, STILL wish I could put my Lid over my Backrest... :(

I had all the tupperware off... XM, Stedel horn, GPS, power outlets, heated grips, autocom, aux fuse box, air filter, replaced t-stat & fixed coolant leak, silverstar bulbs, Sigma thing, 8000 mi service, Heli risers, and a bunch of other stuff... I rode one summer w/out too many mods, carefully selected what I wanted, and had at it. The plastic was off so long that I wasn't sure I would remember how to reassemble without trial & error, and Curt volunteered! (Thanks again Crazykz)
The backrest is the same as yours, and I'm still looking for a better helmet hanger than the clutch post.
Dam that diet cherry Dr Pepper sounds good!!

Ok I'm posting a GPX formatted file with what I believe to be the coordinates for Terry's house from his description and for Moonshine which comes from the map link provided in Terry's post. It is not the same spot that Streets and Trips marks Moonshine at. I'm pretty sure on Terry's house but the Moonshine one is a bit of a pot shot. Don't blame me if you get lost.
remove the .txt off the end of the file. I had to add it to allow the site to upload it.

Terry,
It's time to cut the turd off.... give Helen the bad news and tell her one more nut is coming down for a Moonburger on Saturday!!! :hamburger :burger :burger
I've been itching to sign up sooner than this but I figured if I had, we'd be seeing a good old fashioned pan handle hook coming out of Oklahoma around Friday ready to dump 15 inches of snow on everybody!
Unfortunately, it looks like I will not be able to get down there on Friday for the dinner which means that Saturday is looking like it's going to be a long day. This ride will give me the opportunity to meet up with many of the people that I've read from this board and I'm looking forward to that.
My hat's off to you for putting in all of the time and effort to host this event!! :clap2:

For all those brave souls from WI, myself and Denny Drury from the HSTA group are meeting at Ogden Avenue and 294 at 1:00 PM to ride down. If you all can make it, let me know.
We will be hooking up on the west side of the road at the parking lot of the Starbucks/Wild Oats store. I figure there must be a few of you coming that way.
Give me a shout if you guys are interested.

I have read all e-mail,,, and answered all of it...
I have visited 4 of the 5 sites which the Moonshine thread is posted...
And,,, the results???
13 Canceled because of weather/work/sick/death in the family,,, which all are sad they can not all make it but,,, 10 added so,,, we are STILL,,, over the 400 mark!!! FAR better than I thought,,, and it is just something else so few canceled!!!
AND,,, The Weather continues to look better than they thought for Friday and Saturday just 24 hours ago!!! :bow1:

Terry if you have a Garmin GPS then mapsource will open it but you have to remove the .txt on the end of it. A text editor will also open it but it will just be the cordinates and not much else.
I'll post the Street's and trips file also.

Thought I'd get a jump on Terry and post some items about the run:
**First off, we had some real interesting temp differentials coming down. Myseld an Denny Drury hooked up in Hinsdale and eventually connected with Long Legs and her lesser half just south of the 57-80 split. As we rode down, we went from about 48 to 74. Talk about swings. We needed a chase vehicle just to carry the gear.
** We had a few idiots on four wheels, one dude from Indiana in a panel van who decided to cut into the group and run right behind LadyLongLegs. He was about three feet off her rear wheel. Denny Drury jumped in and backed him off with skill and efficiency.
** We connected with most people at the Comfort Inn, with what started with about 70 bikes and grew to many more. Bikes of all sorts were there, but the ST group had them beat by far.
** Dinner was GREAT! I don't know how Terry manages to do all the things he does with his farm, church, relief work....and then THIS?! It was a blast....food was great, people were better, and we got some very cool t shirts out of the deal.
**I have shop envy after looking at Terry's garage. Incredible.....the number of people that can fit in there, drink coffee and eat sweet rolls was startling. My garage now feels like a low rent cabin on a bad cruise ship.
**Moonshine was PACKED with bikes. Not sure if the old record from another group of 539 got beat, but we sure came close. Burgers were cheap and DAMN good....the locals were fantastic in dealing with our parking and the line our the door. The diner folks really worked hard and got the burgers in your hands as fast as you asked for them.
**Perhaps I am going through some sort of phase as I near 40, but seeing a Wisconsin girl on a BMW, a single girl, who has the 11K IBA plate, as well as a 4 gallon add on tank......hell, that was better than any Sports Illustrated swim suit issue I've ever looked at. WOW! And add to that there was a SECOND girl on a BMW, from Mundelein, IL no less. Humina humina humina!
Oh, Terry ran out of gas on the way to the burger joint!!! Sorry Terry I had to tell it.....
This was a great event and one I can guarantee I'll be at as long as it continues. One of the best group events I've been to in a long time.
Bull hockey..
The Red ones NEVER run outta gas, And I have the pix to prove it!!!
