I am not rich but I am spoiled. i received mine today and have been playing with it. Very nice unit but I gotta study the manual so I know how to use it. I like what I have learned so far and I am sure it will only get better. :D

I got it mounted on the bike, I hardwired it off the Quartet Harness. I managed to get the setup done and load about 243 MP3's so I can have my tunes. In the next 2 days I will activate the XM. The antenna is sorta big and I am thinking about where to mount it. I want to be able to move it between vehicles so I can't permanently mount it. The base is magnetic but not real strong. I will have to experiment with some different options.
Let the fun begin. :D :biker:

I do have the Autocom and I am running the audio through it. The unit has an audio plug (3.5 IIRC) so you can plug the Autocom or even headphones into the unit. It also has a master volume control and if you want you can actually fine tune the volume even more because it has a function to specify how loud the XM is or the MP3 player etc. This way you can turn up the voice prompts but keep the music low.
I used the unit going to the office this morning and it is awesome. I listened to the MP3's since the XM is not activated yet and the sound quality is great.
So far I can't find anything to complain about this unit. I will keep look however. :D
I will get pics tonight and post em.

I need y'all to talk about how awesome it is and how the functionality is so great, please :D
Why?? Because dear RC is in California, and I'm going to pick his up from the UPS place (in @#$@#% Mesquite) bright and F-ing early tomorrow.... but he won't be back home till the 28th LOL
I'm thinking about opening it and figuring out all the gadgetry before he gets home *giggle*
No, you should tell him you sent it to me so he doesn't break it before May. ;)
Hee hee hee

Here are the pics of the new unit. I activated the XM tonight and it works great. I have figured out where I am going to mount the antenna. I am going to make or have made a bracket to fit on the brake reservoir. The antenna has a magnetic base so I want a bracket that is metal so it will stick.
I am a very happy camper!!:D

Very nice. It seems to have the same power cable as the 2610.....Does it have a place to plug in a pair of er6' earphones?
Thanks and congrats

I just loaded about 100 onto mine, about 400mb. I heard directly from Garmin that there is about 750 megs available for extra stuff like way points, etc. I had figgered that if I loaded 250 songs on I'd have used up all the extra space available for the rest of the crap you may wanna add later...just wondering..thanks!

Can you download songs from Itunes or does it have to be a non-ipod MP3 provider?

As long as it is MP3 format it does not matter as far as I know. You transfer files from your computer hard drive to your garmin. Ofcourse once your XM is activated why would you need MP3's? :D

I like to record STuff... Again, thanks for all the answers.. Just got a 2610 and considering whether upgrading to a 2730 is the practical idea as its got XM.

I made a "Garmin" playlist, dragged it to a new folder on my desktop, and then drug that into the mp3 file on my Garmin. Interestingly, it also revealed that a few of the songs I'd picked (that were in my i-tunes, and play perfectly fine on my ipod, were in mp4 (!!) format, and DID NOT LOAD onto my Garmin! So, I have to assume that only mp3 files will load and play on the 2730. Just a logical deduction, could certainly be wrong!

HHHMMMMM....I was all set to go after a 2730 or the 376C, due to the all in one features of sat radio and GPS. But after looking at your pics, I see where you still have to mount an additional antenna for the xm service, and it's a rather large antenna at that. I was really hoping the unit would be self contained...just and power and go.

If I had to choose a negative it would be the large antenna. The positive however is that it is only one unit. I decided the tradeoff was worth the extra room I would need for the antenna.
Good luck on however you go. :)

I love 150, I have had XM in my vehicles since the first month it was available. I love XM it is great especially out in the boonies when you can't get a regular station. :)

One of the questions I have in regards to the 2730 is the integration from navigation to XM radio and or MP3. So how well can you switch from one to the other? Can you see what is playing easily? Lets say you like a song on XM and want to know who it is or want to change channels, how well does that work?
I've looked at the manual that is available on Garmins site but it really offers no help in this area.

Good Point Berzins...
Also,,, while on the XM/MP3 screen it will not let you see something like your speed too will it???

I will try to answer your questions and if I miss something please let me know.
When you are in either the XM or MP3 screen you see nothing else like speed or direction for example. You can easily switch back to the map by pressing the “MAP” button on the right side of the unit housing.
When you are in the map and want to go to the XM or MP3 screens, it is not as quick. You have to press the “MENU” button on the right side of the unit housing which will take you to the menu page. At the bottom of the page you see a submenu with a touch button named “TOOLS”, press the tools button which will take you to the tppls menu. You will then select the “MUSIC PLAYER” button which will take you back to the player.
I have attached some pics of the screens mentioned so you can see what they look like. I also added the MP3 and Audio Books screen shots. I have not explored the audio books option but it may be cool for really long trips.
Another note regarding the XM player, you can see the channel, station name, artist, and album on the screen. You do not see the name of the song or at least I have not found a way to display it. I even touched the artist name to see if there was some hidden function but no joy.
I hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the screen shots, they do help me understand how things work. The great thing about these units is that if enough people push Garmin for a change int he way something works (like the one example you point out about getting back into the music source from the maps), it can be done easly with a ROM upgrade.
I still think I will replace my 2610 when I get some extra cash.

I am sooooo bad....with the sale of my 2610 to a fantastic member of this community, it put me over the top in my "fund raising"....I plan on mounting this antenna somehow on the top box. I'll find a way I think.
This unit is so incredibly awesome....
Can't wait!

Just get a small FM/MP3 unit, set the freq to the modulate freq from the Garmin, and awayyyyyyyy we go! Those units get something like 140 hours of use off of one AA.

I knew if I screwed around with the unit enough I could find something to complain about. My complaint is the FM Transmitter, basically it sucks. I hooked it up in my truck and tuned in multiple stations and I was really disappointed. The signal sounded very weak and I got static. It does not play in stereo, sounds more like mono at best. I literally checked every station that the Garmin showed available and it did not matter.
I was hoping that it would play just like my old CD player did which also used a FM Transmitter but it did not. I was hoping to use the unit in my truck and remove the unit currently installed but no joy.
Just some food for thought. :(
