Hi,
What tool do you folks use to remove those little black push-pin looking screws around the dash and below the fairing pockets?
Thanks,
Gerry

Yeah, thought a screw driver would do it, but I don't want to damage it. Do you folks just push the thing back in? or is there a special tool?

Gerry:
I might be telling you something you know already, but I made this mistake the first time I dealt with the small "flush" pins. I tried to pull them out or pop the inner bobin up - this is wrong. The correct way is to push the inner pins in. I've used various thing to push the pin in - even a wooden toothpick or a pencil end - just make sure it is small enough to fit in.The whole pin (inner and outer) then pops out quite easily. Again - this is for the small piins that have the inner part flush with the outer - same as the pins for the maintenance cover access. Before you reinstll those you push the inner pin out a bit so that it is above the outer part, then reintall and push the inner pin back flush.
Once you do one of these it will all make sense. The inner pin is basically "corrugated" so it pushes out or expands the bottom of the outer gromet when flush, but relaxes in either the pushed in or pushed out position.

I use a micro-sized Phillips head screwdriver to push the center of the pin in. The Phillips head doesn't scrape the outer ring of the pin when you depress the center. Then either needle nozed pliers, a small flat-blade screwdriver, or my fingernail to remove the pin.

Shortly after I got my bike, I had to do the 16K inspexion. More than half of the push rivets (I believe Honda calls them "clips" of some sort) were broken or got damaged in the process of removing the tupperware. Not wanting to drive 50+ mi to a dealer and pay hyper prices for the things, I sought a local source... The fastener cabinets at the local Lowes came thru for me. About 55c each in a variety of sizes... They are SAE sizes (inch...not metric) so the ones slightly larger fit very snugly, but they do an excellent job of securing the tupperware. Since they are available locally at a reasonable price, if one or more gets damaged in removing tupperware, no big deal.

3mm allen wrench for the flush mount puch rivets. A flat head screwdriver for the others. You can get the pull rivets a lot cheaper now through sources other than Honda who wants like $4 each for them. www.amotostuff.com (http://www.amotostuff.com) has them and JC Whitney is now selling them also in packs of ten for around $6.

I use the tip of my key to push in the center, and my finger-tips to pull it out.
