Front Brake question
My 92 ST1100 Standard I bought used, and it had been worked on before I bought it. When I took the front brake pads out to replace them, I noticed that one caliper had a thin piece of sheet metal between the pistons and pad, the other did not. I`ve looked in the Honda and Clymer manuals, neither shows this part. I have the Honda parts CD, it doesn`t show it either. I`ve bought new pads, both Honda and aftermarket, neither comes with this piece. Clearly it`s not necessary, as one side of my bike has been doing without it for over six years. My rear brake does not have one either. So, is this piece standard on both front calipers?On the rear? What is it`s purpose? Why doesn`t it show in any parts blowup? Thanks, Doug
