Hi Folks,
I need a bracket made from 0.040" -0.060" metal for my Garmin Antenna but I do not have the skill nor tooling to make what I want. Is there anyone in the DFW area that can handle this task? I have a prototype I made out of thin metal to use as a template.
For that matter if nobody in the DFW area can do it I would appreciate info from anywhere is the country.
Thanks for the help. :)

Email me at eblattert@cs.com with a pic of the bracket you need and I'll see if I can whip it out for you. Or post it here.
And are you sure you want it made from .040"-.060" material? That's pretty darned thin for any type of bracket capable of supporting the weight of a GPS unit. Guess I should wait until I see a picture of what it is you want, just sounds pretty thin to me.

Here is what I have so far. If you need more info please ask. I am going to mount my antenna to it and it has to be somewhat thick and metal so the magnetic base will stick to it.
Thank You :)
I forgot to mark dimension on the left side leg, it is 1 1/8" tall.

Piece of cake - I'll knock one out for ya.
I don't think I have any sheet stock, so I'd only charge you for what it costs to get the steel. Or if I can find some steel gratis, then it's free.
I'll also powdercoat it black (or any other color) so it won't rust.
PM your shipping address to me.

Here are some additional pics so you will see more specifically what I am trying to do. I want to mount it similar to how the McCruise controls are mounted.
Thanks very much for the help Eric. :bow1:

Gotcha. Is one bolt hole for a mount going to be enough? Two holes would keep it from twisting - I don't know if this would be a problem or not as I don't know how much the antenna weighs.
Two holes could be used, but would require a couple of tubes with 6mm holes in them so that they would clear the lever perch.

I thought about that but I have not had the twisting problem with the McCruise and I also plan to put a small patch of velcro between the master cylinder cover and the bottom of the bracket.
I am kinda hung up on the look of things so I did not want to go with a larger bracket and spacers etc. It is a sickness with me unfortunately.
Thanks

Yep I agree Eric is the man! Heck I sent a note about help on a windscreen and he sent me a message back faster than customer service at American Express. :bow1: Can't wait to meet your guys on the road!

Your idea is very similar to how I have my Roady 2 and antenna mounted, only I used the angle from the front of the clamp for the display mounting angle and the top for the antenna. The velcro between the plate and resevoir work very well. I would suggest that you have it made from stainless or plated material for rust resistance. I have attached some pics.

That was sorta what I originally planned on making bt then I glanced at my McCruise and thought I wanted to mount it farther back. Great minds think alike. :D

Yo estoy finito - or sumthin' like that....
Got the bracket done, welded and ground. Just need to drill the mount hole and powdercoat it now.
Can anyone help with where to drill the hole? I'd like to do this before powdercoating so that the coat isn't broken by drilling a hole in it.
