Question for the DVD v. CD Rom experts.

Mapsource is now putting new versions of mapping software on DVD. They are no longer using CD medium. With older versions on CDs, you would download the mapping data from the CD (or downloaded from DC to harddrive) to a data card via a Garmin USB data card reader/programer devise.

I do not have a DVD drive on my PC. How do I get the DVD mapping data from the DVD either into my computer or how do I get the DVD data into the data card without a DVD reader/player?

You might have to do a search on STOC or call Garmin as I think I remember someone saying Garmin would send you Mapsource on CD's if requested. Not sure though...

Buy a Sony DVD for 45 dollars at NewEgg.

I'd echo the comments on putting a DVD player in your machine- it's a pretty inexpensive upgrade.
