Hi,
I was looking to get Oxtar's Matrix Boot, but then I noticed the Explorer boots. The only thing I can see different is that maybe the Explorer may have some mesh.
Is the Matrix the boot to get? What differences are there besides full coverage vs. mesh?

thanks,

Tom de

upper on explorer seems to be "suede and dupont cordura" vs the matrix which is "full grain leather".

My sense is that explorer might be better in warm weather. My matrix can get a bit warm in the summer.

Sorry I can't speak for the Explorer but I love my Matrix boots. Comfortable even to walk in and waterproof.

The Matrix boot, does it fit true to size? I would like to order a pair from new enough but can't find any where to try a pair on. They are all special order up here in Canada, and of course full retail:eek: I am a little gun shy of internet orders as I got a bit burned last year. I ordered what I thought was the right size, and when it was not it became cost prohibitive to exchange, so I was stuck. I wear a 9 1/2 street shoe, how does that compare to others who have these boots?

They fit a little big which was fine by me because it gives a little extra room for thicker socks.

I've had mine for about a month, and I like them a lot. I wear size 11...the Matrix boot size 45(11 equivalent) fits me perfectly. Ordered from New Enough. I would certainly buy them again. :)

Just some FYI from a fellow Canuck.

I got my Oxtar Matrix boots from NewEnough.com who are once again shipping to Canada. At that time they were selling for U$139.00 a good deal less than what I could pick up boots for here.

Got my FirstGear overpants at the same place. No problems.

I have found NewEnough.com's comments about sizing to be accurate.

I wear 10.5 to 11 shoes. Got the 45 to be safe - plenty of room and my feet are wide and high instep. I would have been fine with the 44s as well.

So far I have had good luck with Internet suppliers. Early on I got burned by UPS, but learned that if a supplier ships USPS then you are OK. I don't use suppliers who only ship UPS as UPS burns you for "brokerage" fees.

I bought a pair of the Oxtar Matrix last year and sent them back because they just didn't feel sturdy (protective) enough for me. I am used to wearing Sidi Vert2 race boots on the R6 and the Matrix didn't feel right to me. NOT knocking the Matrix at all as lots of guys love them, they just weren't for me. I ordered a pair of Oxtar Infinity and absolutely love them, very comfy and beefy/sturdy feeling boot and the soles grip concrete and pavement like a pair of tennies compared to my Sidi Vert2's. Both pair of boots were ordered from Newenough.com with great service - hard to beat those guys in my book.

I have the Explorers and the Infinity boots and love them both. The Explorer is more a "summer boot" although I've been comfortable down to low 30s with them. They are indeed waterproof and I've never had wet feet even in heavy downpour.

I wear an 8-1/2 American shoe and the 41 European fits me perfectly.

The Infinity boot is much taller (3" ??) and appears to be warmer, but at this time of the year, that's a plus. I think it will be pretty warm in the summer, so the Explorers are still an option for me.

Both offer good protection for ankles and shins, are well made and will withstand some abuse. Both are comfortable off the bike as well.

YMMV and the usual disclaimers.

Thanks guys. Some good info here.... ummm my boot will be my only set so maybe the Matrix is my best choice.

Got 'em!!! they are nice

Thanks for the info guys. I my Oxtars from http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/, for 168.00 delivered.
This is my second purchase from them and it was a good experiance. I didn't get an email after purchase but I did get timly response when I emailed them about not getting an email. They say I should have.

Anyway the boots showed up and they are very nice.

I do have a question tho, will they break in? Or do I need to move my ***** leaver?

Thanks again,

Tom de
PS - I like newenough also, good people there.

Wear 'em to work for a week or two and use the stairs instead of the elevator. They're real nice when broken in.

I know what you meant....... but I've gotta ask. Is the ***** leaver on the left or right side of the bike. :) Ditto on the Newenough comments.
