Ok...I think that MAYBE March might cooperate with some milder weather. Now that I have my new Sargent seat, I was wondering if anyone near Chicago wanted to help me plan and ride together for the IBA BunBurner.....
Like to get some guys from WI/IL/IN and get this thing under our belts.
Anyone?

You're crazy. That's just dumb. Why would you want to do that? What's a BunBurner?
:D
Just kidding. You really mean a BunBurner? (1500 in 36?)

Planning a BB1500 from Flint MI to SLC Utah commencing June 18. If everything goes as planned, I should be passing through the Chicago area around 7AM.

Yeah the Bun Burner Gold would be cool too....
So enough wisecracks (LOL) anyone want to do one starting somewhere near, oh say, Chicago? I'm actually near Downers Grove so I am central to the major interstates.....90/94/88/80.

Go forth and have fun - I'm planning on an Iron Butt ride in March also, but it will be down south

I would consider it but I've already signed up for too much this year already but I wouldn't want to rule it out at this point. Not sure at this point if the bike will be ready by March but I may be interested. Sorry I can't give a for sure.
Charlie and myself had been talking about setting up a day this summer where we would hold group SS1K's around the US with leaders chosen to lead each of the groups. So people could get a taste of doing an LD ride. We haven't really talk about it much at this point.
So you have already done an SS1K I take it?

I've done the regular bunburner and the bunburner gold about 3-4 years ago. The regular BB isn't bad since you have plenty of time for longer gas stops and some personal stops if needed, but the BBG is a B#%@H of a ride. Average 500 mi per 3-8 hr periods really requires some good mileage and fairly short gas/pee/eat stops. You really need to have this one planned out and know your limits from fatigue.

Interesting idea, bad month for me.... Are you going to be at the Chicago bike show??? Twist my arm.. I haven't rode 1000 mi in a day since 1980. I'm not against long trips....just haven't caught the "Gotta do it in one day" bug.
