Well I did it...

Just bought a new 2005 ST1300 (non-ABS) still in the crate from a local bike shop (Brampton Cycle) last Saturday.

I pick up the bike with the following accessories:
- Side tank pads that come with the bike (to be installed by me later),
- Top tank pad accessory (to be installed by me later),
- 12VDC socket and accessory wire harness,
- 1K service included,
- NO decals/stickers of any kind on the bike,
- Max 2-3 km upon pickup,
- Advised service manager that I will perform oil/gear oil change at 100km and 600km myself with OEM Honda oil filter and their recommended petroleum based oil/lube and that their 1K service is to include the standard oil change/gear oil change as part of the normal 1K service,
- Ownership and plate transfer included by bike shop,
- Pick up date set for April 15. (Option to move date forward or to arrange for delivery to my home for $50.00)

It sure will be fun scheduling the 1K service! As long as we get some nice weather and the salt/sand has washed away I'll be booking the 1K service for as soon as possible after I pick up the bike!

I'm looking forward to putting some nice clicks on the bike and getting used to it's handling, overall feel and to make little adjustments to the seat and suspension etc.

Thanks to everyone who offered their comments in my earlier posts...kindly appreciated.

Alllrrriiggghhhtttt! Fresh out of the crate - gotta love that. I don't know if I could wait until April, though. Of course, up there in the frozen wasteland you may not have a choice... Time to do some serious warm weather dancing (maybe you can get it to warm up)!

Welcome to a fellow Ontario rider. Don't wait for April pickup. I've put about 1,500Km on my bike in Jan. this year. Any time the roads are clear and the sun is out I go for a little spin for an hour or so. Heated grips and full riding gear make a sunny 4ºC very enjoyable. :biker:

I (probably like so many others on these forums) am going to have to find a delicate balance between:
- home life (wife and 2 little guys),
- riding, and
- making money so that I can continue to enjoy my first 2 hobbies.

At least my wife met me long after I started riding. Unfortunately...I don't have the "visitation rights" clause defined in the contract. Aaargh!

Congrats, yer gonna love the ST.
My eldest daughter and her family live in Brampton, I rode there last summer and spent a few days before heading to NESTOC. Maybe if I'm up that way this summer we can grab a coffee and go for a scoot

There are often a lot of bikes at the local Tim Horton's on the SE corner of HWY 10 and Mayfield Rd. It's a good spot for a coffee and to chat some people up if you are in the area.

Lots of great riding places just north of Brampton as you probably know including:
- Forks of the Credit Rd.
- Hockley Valley
(Just have to watch out for cops! They know riders flock to the twisties)
