Hello,

During my lane splitting this afternoon, some idiot decide he didn't want to let me through. Traffic was stopped at the light. He was stopped also until he saw me coming. As I passed his rear bumper, he started moving to his left to cut me off. I attempted to swerve, but not enough room on my left and not enough time to stop completely. I rode straight ahead and his left mirror collided with my right - causing my right mirror to collapse (nicely I might add) and breaking the glass. My wife was riding with me at the time and some how his door or maybe even his door handle his her knees and ankles. I'm not sure how her ankle got invovled, but thankfully she's okay and will just suffer some bruising.

No place to pull over and check things out, so I proceeded to slowly go down the street and pull into condo driveway parking area. I look in my other rearview mirror and he's gone. Never even stopped to see if anyone was hurt.

From the looks of it the mirror housing didn't suffer much damage except for a scratch and of course the cracked mirror. The housing looks like it can still snap into place, but seems kinda loose at the bottom. Does anyone know where to get a replacement mirror besided the dealership? If I do go to the dealership, I'm pretty sure they'll charge an arm and a leg.

Thanks

You can take it to a local glass place and have them cut you a new mirror to replace it with... I had a broken mirror and a local company charged me $15 to cut and replace... a replacement mirror was close to $70 from Ron Ayers

In all the parts I have bought recently Service Honda or Zanotti Motors has been the cheapest every time. Shipping from either is what you'd expect as normal - a few days from the phone call / online order to my door. I have had good experience with Zanotti sending emails about my order updates if parts were on back order or something.

I suggest finding someone with multivex's already on and see if you like them.

I put on the ST1100's right mirror to replace one that got taken out by a cattle crossing and do *not* like it.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but does anyone have a picture of the mirror in the "breakaway" position? I know the mirrors are supposed to break away but I'm not clear exactly what part of the mirrors this entails - the plastic? Or does the mirror itself just pop out?

Not the mirror it is well connected.
The plastic housing (with the turn signal) will pop off if you pull on it (gently) from back to front or down or up.

The plastic broke away, the mirror (although cracked all over) stayed in its position.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm going to try the convex mirror for $33.00. I called my dealer and he told me just for the mirror alone will cost $109.00, the plastic house if I needed that replaced was $94.00.
