Can anybody shed some light on what these roads are like as far as scenery etc. US 56/64 across Kansas and Oklahoma into New Mexico and then 64 across NM into the 4 corners area. Just looking at a spring/early summer ride. Will do the southwestern part of Colorado also then no idea from there.

Lots of open land through the Oklahoma panhandle, slight rolling hills, few trees, probably a good crosswind from either direction. Then the land really opens up between Clayton and Raton. Expect to see lots of pronghorn antelope in that area.
64 between Raton and Bloomfield, is for the most part, very scenic. The road may have been re-done since the last time I was on it, but there used to be a lot of tar snakes between Cimarron and Eagle Nest.

Those roads through Kansas aren't bad but not much other than farms and ranches. Oklahoma isn't all that much different but the ground is more red. 64 in New Mexico has some nice curves between Raton and Farmington. There are also some straight stretches then as well but there are usually some mountains around in the distance to see. I can't say about the actual road conditions that way as I haven't been that way since 02. In the curvey sections of 64 there are usually some RV's taking it slow so don't count on it being real fast in that area.
A slight detour up to Red River is worth the ride. Red River is a little skiing resort with a good number of motels and restaraunts. They have some campgrounds outside of town as well. :03biker:
