Hi guys.

I was wondering if all you 2730 owners out there could answer a question for me in regards to the audio outputs on the unit. Specifically stereo output. I've been told that the motorcycle kit is only a mono signal and that if you want stereo you need to use the output on the left of the unit. Can anyone confirm this? It would seem silly to me that you would need to run two audio outputs (one for the audio of the actual GPS and another for the XM/MP3 player).

Any help is appreciated!

Dave...

The jack that lets you use your earbuds/headphones comes through in stereo. The verbal commands, alerts etc. come through right over the music (if you're listening to it) and that can be altered, lower or higher volume than the tunes or turned off altogether. Nice!

This cable:

doesn't provide stereo audio? I'll still need a separate cable to get stereo? That would be really dumb on a unit that has 2 stereo audio functions (MP3 and XM radio).

You will need a set of helmet speakers or earbuds to get stereo to your ears. They will plug into a separate audio output on the left side of the 2730. The cable you show provides audio as well but you don't have to use it. The jack size for the left side output is the same as iPods or Walkman-type speakers or headphones while the Garmin one is bigger. Like mac and RC say, the voice prompts for navigation come over the speaker/phones output right on top of music or whatver the XM or MP3 player is doing.

I HAVE THE SYSTEM INSTALLED AND USING THE OUTPUT ON THE LEFT I GET BEAUTIFUL STEREO AND ALL THE GARMIN PROMPTS I CARE TO LISTEN TO!:p:

I REALLY SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE POWER CABLE WITHOUT THE AUDIO OUTPUT AS IT SIMPLY DANGLES THERE.

That was my question/point. Why have a mono audio output on the power cable when the unit has an MP3 player and XM radio?!

I was trying to avoid having to plug/unplug two cables (power and audio) and was hoping the combined power/audio cable would be enough.
