Well I bought the Turbo City Fuel Regulator a couple of weeks ago and this past weekend I was able to get the time to install it. Since buying the bike new in October I have not attempted to do anything with it except ride. Needless to say I was a bit apprehensive about taking things apart. My first surprise was having to take the handlebars off in order to get the tank up. Fortunately I didn't experience any of the difficulties I had read of concerning how tight the bolts were. All came out with out a hitch or difficulties. When I got the tank up, even in my well lit garage it was dark in there!!! A nice farkle would be a "hood light" ;) My next surprise was how difficult it is to get things, i.e. screwdriver, out from behind the airbox. Was very grateful that the wife has small hands!! I knew she was handy for something ;) I didn't experience any difficulties getting the screws out of airbox to get it off the throttlebody. Rest of the disassembly then reassembly went very well. Had the job completed in about 2 1/2 hours, screwdriver retrieval and all.

I then took the bike out for a test drive. First thing I noticed, when the bike warmed up it idled at 1100 rpm instead of 1000. Guess I best turn it down a bit. I was very pleased at how much better the engine responded at lower RPM's and the no more lugging at the lower revs. A worthwhile upgrade methinks! :)

Dave, next time you have to raise the tank, you can simply loosen a bolt at the rear of the tank that allows you to slide it back a couple inches into a slot on the seat height adjuster. That way you don't have to remove the bars.

I find that before I attempt much in the way of wrenching it pays to consult this site for advice. There is so much information here it's incredible. A couple minutes with the SEARCH function could have saved you some effort. Of course opportunity to wrench with your wife may have been worth the extra time!

Dave, hopefully you didn't (over)tighten the airbox screws when you put things back together. My description would be to snug them rather than tighten them. They seem to tighten on their own over time so if they were tightened rather than snugged, you will probably have to impact driver them off next time.

Get a service manual.

It shows how to raise the tank and how to use the prop rod to keep it up.

I wish there was an easier way to remove the tank completely, to get it out of the way. If there is, please let us know.

The handlebars do not have to come off to do this.:04biker:
