http://www.cyclegadgets.com/images/LS-RDC_thumb.jpg (javascript:PopUpImage('../../Images/LS-RDC.jpg','Legal Speeding Radar Detector Case',0,0);)Anybody using this for the 8500 X50? I'm wondering, if you need an angled plug for the headphone jack or will a straight one fit?

Pretty sure it has to be angled but you can get an adaptor to do that.

I was thinking that it would have to be. I'm thinking that the box would have to be routed out some for the adapter.

The unit consists of a flat bottom plate and the box housing that goes on top of it. The plate has a small space on the bottom for passing the wire through. You cannot put a plug through it, you have to put the radar detector on the base, thread the wire through the space (it is a notch) and then put the top on the box housing on top, and then screw it in place. The base is plastic, you could easily drill or cut it if you felt the need, but I did not.

hope this helps

Hey welcome to the site. This post is over a year old. I did end up drilling the bottom. All my wires connect and disconnect on the bottom.

I'll bet he thought you were anxiously awaiting a response. You know the patience of a saint and all that. hehe

People search the site for information, even when the original poster has long since moved on. The answer to the question wasn't there, so I put it there to assist anyone who might have the same question in the future.

That sounds like a very good reason to me. I don't need the information, but you're right, another may benefit from your explanation. Thank you Maura!
