I picked up some Kimpex Heated Grip elements a few weeks ago on sale at cyclegear. My plan in to install them at Tech STOC--Tucson next week. I also bought the BMW grips, I will used these with the grips. Now I know most people are using the Symtek grip elements, so please don't tell me to use them. The kimpex elements seem to be used often by the BMW riders. What I liked about these elements is the heavier gage wire used. The problem is that the wire is too big for the gap between the throttle grip and the switch housing. Is this a common problem? I am worried about the wire rubbing on the housing and restricting the throttle return. My only thought so far was to use a soldering iron to burn a small channel in the side of the grip to increase the clearance.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Also I am planning to use heat shrink on the clutch side bar.

Installed heat a few months ago. Used BMW grips and did what you plan. Actually made a small hole in the end of the rt grip for wire to exit.Humm. How do i get you to my post. Can you go to my posts? I have desc and pics. If you can't --I will describe and re-post pics 4 you. Really works well. I recently painted on Liquid Electrical tape to where the wire exits the grip to water proof the hole.--

Didn't wrap my clutch side with anything and both grips heat equally. Very happy with them. Cut small notch in the grip to give room for the wire on the throttle side.
