I'm taking my FG Kili jacket back to the manufacturer this week, the seams around the pads are coming undone and I need some information.
With this weeks rain I have found out that this jacket is by no means water proof, it is barely water resistent. My question of the list is...for those of you that have this jacket, is your jacket water proof? Do you use rain gear?

I ride everyday, rain or shine and I can not afford to have gear that does not live up to the manufactures claims.

Fashion Sports will replace my jacket with anything they sell. I'm leaning to the HG line.

Thanks

Are you sure that you don't have the Kili Air jacket? A Kili would be awfully hot in southern California.

I'm on my second Kili (lost the first in wreck) and they've both been 100% waterproof. Wash once a year and re-treat with Nikwax Direct spray on. Ditto for the HT pants. The only time I've gotten wet is when I've forgotten to properly close the vents. HTH

Got a Kili II and don't have no problems with it leaking water at all.

Tony:

I have a Killi jacket and the HT overpants. They are said to be shelltex rather than goretex.

They both work well, but I did find that after about 6 to 8 months of use that the water was not beading well on the outer fabric anymore and that the outer fabric got heavy with water. I reapplied nikwax (wash in) but this did not do it for me. I finally ended up using scotchgaurd fabric protector (just the regular automotive stuff as I could not find the better heavy duty stuff for tents) and all was well again.

I have been caught in some rain storms (deluge is the most fitting term) where I did end up feeling pretty wet, but it was difficult for me to differentiate between the water running up my sleeves, down my neck, etc. Can't really say the Killi will keep you dry then, but I believe that once the outer fabric gets saturated, you end up not being able to vent your body moisture regardless of the shelltex/goretex - so you get a bit damp. In those conditions I'm not sure anything will keep you completely dry.
