After installing a lot of farkles and using the quartet harness, what do you do with all of the wiring connections when removing the farkles? I know most of it is switched but what is something is not used when you are traveling. That leaves a hot connector exposed when starting the bike. How do you handle this?

If you meant remove "temporarily". I cover mine with a "Baggie", secured with a rubber band. If you meant remove permanently, I would tape the live ends and stuff them behind something; gas tank, fairing.

I am concerned about the permanently installed wiring connected to the quartet harness when it is disconnected from the farkle. If I have a GPS mounted on the bike and remove it, what can be done to protect the permanently installed power cable for the GPS to keep it from shorting out by grounding to the bike? It will be a hot wire when the bike is running and could short out.
Could you route the wire through one of the side compartments? That way you could stuff it away to protect it from the elements. Just a thought.:biker:

I see what you're talking about....you're looking for a cap or boot to cover the 2.5 or 3mm hot plug that would be dangling from the handlebars if you dont hook up the gps, XM, or any other single device..... good thought - I wonder the same....

If its a 2.5 or 3mm plug just get the opposite end plug and use some silicone or other matter to fill the back side where the wires would normally come out of and plug it in to your hot lead no more shorting out.:biker:

Yep, get the jack that the plug fits into and fill it, like he said.

I've never had a problem. I have my XM radio and GPS wired into the QT harness. When they are not in use, the XM radio power just dangles off the left handlebar and the GPS power stays tucked under my dash shelf.
YMMV

Everything that you are talking about is designed not to short out if hanging exposed while unplugged.
The outside of the barrel type connectors is a ground, the inside is recessed and has a platic barrier that keeps it form touching. You would have to purposely shove somethig into it and then ground it against the bike to short it out.
The GPS connections are recessed much the same way and the metal you see on them is once again a ground.

Thanks a lot for the information. Good tips to use in the future when I get everything mounted.
