No Georgia for me 'til after Moonshine.
Change of plans yesterday, rode mostly 2-lane down to Moonshine, then continued south to Metropolis, IL and Paducah, KY then west to Cairo for stop at Shemwell's BBQ. (Note the black cherry soda in the Moonshine pic, Helen has restocked.
) The Lois Lane statue is very elegant compared to the cartoonish Superman.
The old Mississippi River bridge is re-opened so headed down that way, following small Missouri roads 'til I crossed I-55. More south 'n west through Jonesboro, onto US-67 past Little Rock on I-440 and on south on I-30. Finally stopped for the night in a Warehauser forest, nothing pine trees and deer stands. Decided to stop when I did because of the trio of does standing on the right verge of the road about 11:15. Good time to quit. Here's a nice scenic pic across the AR forest. And a 48X pic of the cell tower out near the I-State, Completely isolated camp-wise, but great cell reception.
Camp coffee on the luggage rack with fire under and steam wafting up.
Anyway, good start this morning, camp coffee and oatmeal the ride some more. I redid some bungees and guess taht was a mistake as I lost my dry bag full of clean clothes. Only problem with that, 3 or 4 of my Moonshine shirts were in there! Gone.
About thirty miles after that fiasco (recovered the 17 miles twice looking for it), bike QUIT! Fuel pump this time, right at the intersection into Mt. Calm, TX. Lucky for me, the local High School shop teacher happened by and just couldn't do enuff to make sure I got going again. Two hour thrash including a trip to the auto parts store for an in-line
pump, and I'm now at McDonalds just north of Austin. So, once again, all is good.
Much thanks to Eloy for the help, he stuck with and got his hands dirty too.
I'm hooking up with the Prostate Cancer Pony Express tomorrow for a visit to the TX state capital, then heading west and north toward Santa Fe.
