A buddy of mine bought a 2005 Concours this year and one of the first things he said to me after he got it home was, "We need to do an Iron Butt ride!" So we planned and put the word out to our riding friends. The group was up to 5 riders but by the big day rolled around, there were only three of us.

The plan was to ride from Abbotsford, BC (just north of Sumas, WA) to Salt Lake City. Departure was on June 13th at 4am and planned arrival was 10pm (11pm Salt Lake time zone).

On this ride we had my ST1300A, a Concours 1000 and a Vulcan 1700.

The weather was perfect for our ride. We arrived in Salt Lake City around 11:30pm local time, only 30 minutes later than we had initially planned. We all stayed awake for the whole trip and had zero mechanical issues and no "performance awards" from the LEO's.

Check out our route: http://j.mp/IronButtRide

Congrats on your ride! Maybe the first of many?
Once I got my first IBA certificate, I was hooked. I kept upping the difficulty and challenging myself a bit more with each ride.

Great job, I really hope I get to do one.

So...what's the plan for getting back? More stops?

Congrats, the country seems to get smaller after you realize everything is only a couple days away.

Never did an Iron Butt. Managed 920miles on an 86 Wing once in a bit over 17hrs. Did my first forum ride to eat on the St in a bit over 14 hrs., 848 miles roundtrip and that included lunch/ no pie...

my first applicable ride was before I even knew what an Iron Butt Award was went from DFW to Gladstone Michigan non-stop Via West Memphis, AR (1344 miles) add a police stop of 30 or so minutes in Chicago (They were stopping All bikes) and I still did it in 21 hours and the others were never fully planned (Oh, I'll stop and camp when I get tired ... Oh look, I'm here) and those routes were 1363 or so miles. Did those twice, in around 22-24 hours.
Last year was my longest "day" with 1531 miles rode, with a stop for lunch in Fayetteville, AR before I considered just continuing on and a stop for breakfast in Superior, WI. so the ride was 26 hours and what ever minutes. STs make that fairly easy with those long times between fill-ups.
I've never applied for the awards though.
