I still have my klim latitude pants but Gore-Tex gear always seem cool on 50F days which force you to buy a base layer to wear. I had a pair of tourmaster flex pants, those have a zip in thermo liner as well as a zip in rain liner, I found them to be too heavy and bulky so I gave them to my friend kamikaze years ago. I waited this morning until it got around 45F and didn't plan to go far. I was going to just putz around on the Mighty CT 70 but decided to take the Mighty ST 1300 so I could test the new pants at speeds above 35mph. after getting the Mighty ST 1300 out of the yard I thought about a few murals but didn't realize that they were fenced in. I found another one but a wrecked SUV was partly blocking it. I decided to stay off the express way and head downtown, I stopped for this church and theses murals on the way

leaving belle isle i headed west back downtown but had no real destination in mind other than heading back home. at 54 / 55f the venture pants were too warm with the thermo liner in but i didn't bother to stop and take them out. i was reading about some murals in southwest Detroit so i went and scouted a few out and found a few that i want to go back and get a pic of when there are fewer cages in the parking lot. i wouldn't say that i took a B-line home but i eventually made it there. after 41 miles and speeds up to 60mph i can say that so far i like the new pants, sorry no pic of them but i don't think a selfie of the pants would do them justice

got up a little befor 07:00 and got myself ready. I took the thermos liner out of the tourmaster venture pants for this mornings ride. by 07:30 I was rolling out of my driveway on this nice and sunny 45F day with an 11mph breeze that was gusting up to 20mph. I headed back over to southwest Detroit so I could get some unobstructed pic's of the murals I scouted out yesterday 20200419_074700.jpg20200419_074710.jpg20200419_074906.jpg20200419_074910.jpg

one reason I needed to get out early was the cool temp and the other was to get this mural, it is at the entrance / exit of a supermarket 20200419_075537.jpg20200419_075645.jpg

the second church is about a mile and a half from my house so I headed home but then had a thought, I know but it wasn't a bad thought. I headed over to my old neighborhood and made a stop at Hanneman Elementary. the first elementary school I attended, the porch is where the kids in kindergarten entered school, it was my post when I was a safety boy 20200419_084507.jpg20200419_084511.jpg20200419_084535.jpg20200419_084541.jpg20200419_084733.jpg

once home I look at the thermometer on the Mighty ST 1300, it is showing 46F and it is still pretty breezy but i'm happy with my short ride. i'm still having a problem with the tendons in my foot so I don't want to push it. the real purpose though was evaluating the new venture pants. well there is less bulk and less weight with the liner removed but my legs felt cold on the way back to get pic's of the school. the liner for the pants zip in at the waist but have the elastic loop and snap connector at the pant leg, yesterday when taking the pants off I didn't unzip the pant legs to undo the snap from the loop and thought I broke one of them cause my foot got caught up in the liner, this I don't like and will have to remember to undo the snap on the liner. it's going to be near 60f so a short ride in a little warmer weather will be the next test
