Just a short ride

this actually happened Friday
last time i was up in Flint in the Mustang i got a parking ticket so yesterday i headed out about 09:15 to get it paid. it was about 68f and very cloudy. i took Schafer north then m-14 west my first stop was to get some gas for the Mighty ST 1300, $25 didn't even fill the main tank

with enough fuel in the tank for my trip i was ready to roll. i headed north on us-24, it was easy going until i got up near 13 mile road and hit construction. it caused a traffic jam that didn't thin out until i reached Bloomfield hills, MI. somewhere out in Waterford traffic got back to normal otherwise things were uneventful.

Once in Flint i couldn't find were to go pay my ticket, i rode around downtown having no luck. i put the address in my GPS and had no luck with it, the GPS was trying to take me to 502 Cort street but Cort Street ran out of addresses and street at 442. i rode out to my friend Jermane's shop but he wasn't open so i decided to meander around. the temp had gone up to 77f and as usual i had not eaten anything. i spotted a restaurant that i'm going to try next time i'm up that way though but for now i was looking for some murals and found these

leaving the parking lot i almost missed these

still meandering i found myself out on Lapeer road heading for Lapeer, MI. but that was going in the wrong direction so i got myself heading in the right direction and made a stop in Burton for the church

i was a little farther north than i wanted to be so i ended up taking I-75 south for awhile then exiting onto Dixi HWY / us-24 making a stop in Drayton Plains, MI. for my last pic of the trip, i use to deliver produce here back in the '80's. not many still have the signage still up

from there i just stayed on us-24 and reversed course for home running into the same construction backup near 13 mile road. got through a little quicker though and made it home about 14:15 and finally got a bite to eat, 180 miles

i took off again about 18:15 and headed out to Romulus, MI for Big Steve's Friday Night Bike night, with two bars showing it was time to get more fuel, still didn't have both tanks full

once at bike night i had a beer and took a few pic's, not as many bikes as last week. made it back home just before 23:00 and something like 216 miles for the day

it was a bad thing!! i couldn't find the city's web site so the $25 ticket went up to $40, almost a fill up. i meander around Flint each time i'm there

I was hoping that the ride to pay the ticket would have been successful and a great reason to get out on the mighty ST vs paying it online (which I now know you could not do.)

once back home i finally found the city's website and got the ticket paid, i'm usually up in Flint once a month visiting friends during the warm weather months

seeing that these Mighty ST 1300's don't hold much fuel i had cousin Jeff add a 3 gallon fuel cell to help get me down the road

Last I checked around 4 Kmarts were left. One was near where I lived in New Mexico at Tucumcari. At the time (2016) it was the towns main shopping store.

The one in Hamilton MT- the last one in the Mountain time zone- closed in March of last year. Not sure where the others are but I won't especially miss them when they're gone.
