Rather close to my home-base (~1 hour from Vienna, unless you "take the long way", which there are plenty to choose from... ) this corner might not seem an attractive destination for touring, but it's quite appealing due it's almost Scandinavian scenery, combined with literally cobwebs of winding, narrow roads with almost alpine level of difficulty (many are blacktopped farm paths, with yet no driving bans instated...)

(more pictures and information if you select the [German] edit...)

so we decided to spent an entire week there, riding, hiking, hanging around...

Our base was at
decent prices, excellent food (we booked half-board), motorcycle oriented...

As travel reports are worthless without pics, lets start the show... ;)

A brief stop, "somewhere"...

at the Ysperklamm, a beautiful gorge, about 1 hour climb on wooden trails and steps...

That >5 hours hike lead to a rest-day the next morning...
(I guess I'm getting too old for this $h!t... )

Too old? Naw.

Even the F1 cars get tore down and rebuilt between races.

Play hard, rest hard, repeat.

Great photos by the way! Thanks for sharing.

GF suggested/insisted riding some gravel roads (practice for Norway later this year and roadworks in general...)
which brought us in this moody scene at the Schlesinger See (actually a man made water reservoir...)

around 0620hrs I was woken up by the whooshing sound of propane burners...

he managed a very gentle landing though...

later that week some friends joined us, brief stop aside the road...

as mentioned quite complex roadwork there, my ancient Garmin Quest (2004) is too dumb to pull any stunts, it just ticks along like a Swiss watch;
the oh so modern newer Garmins often reacted with quite moody, erratic navigation results... ;)

LOL!
I just can't recall (hmm, another sign though...) the last time I'd found an >5 hour walk that exhausting... ;)
Leg muscles, joints and ligaments sore in such a way we decided to stay in the next day (the weather forecast announcing severe rainstorms didn't motivate either... )
