right up there at Geiranger a Klingon spotted our plates and approached me:
Hey! Don't you have enough mountains and curves back home?!
Yeah, but I'd expected to bump into way less tourists up here... :p
And... off he went... :rofl1:

Casualties so far:

impatient Klingon in his Passat forced my GF into the safety rail... scuffed pannier lid...

IMG_20220906_131039.jpg

a gazillion of midges, the NT700 lost her low beam (replace the H7 bulb at the port in Oslo), connection between left and right low beam on my ST broken, hence one eyed...

In total we covered over 6000km/3800miles on wheels... trains, ferries and hikes not included...

My GF on her NT700 held up exceptionally well, at occasion even cocky...
Never tired, never complaining, the NT700 is a comfy, well behaving workhorse with precise steering geos...
Both Hondas functioned flawless of course...

But I kinda don't get other riders...
I mean they know they're on trains and ferries but not only have they no ties downs or latching-loops with them, they don't even know where to attach them on their bikes...
You should see the confused looks when Norwegian loading workers hand straps to the riders on the car deck...
My GF and I had my orange slings always pre-mounted on the lower triple and carrier stay... each has 4 straps packed, our bikes secured in like a minute...

Upon departure in Innsbruck one Klingon complained that he'd to spent the one week vacation on the campground, suposingly the train crew in Hamburg had tied his KTM on the crash bars, which bend inward and damaged the radiator, hence no riding for him...
I'd never leave that job to the train crew unattended...

Wow! Thanks for sharing and the pics.
Norway is on my list. Hopefully in the next year or so.
Did you use your own tie down straps or did the ferries always supply them?

... the ferry crew thought they should secure my bike….
Some crews are astonishingly experienced, some kinda reckless, like insisting to throw a strap over the seat, bending the kickstand and damaging the seat cover in the process... but I understand their frustration of having to deal with folks who have no clue (or intentions) on securing their motorcycle... but they definitely acknowledge and attend other pressing matters once they'd realized that I seem to know what I'm doing...
Almost all ferries now have latching points positioned for motorcycles on designated areas of the deck, enabling the secure 4-point tie-down...

What I didn't figure out are payments... some charge aboard (handheld device, picture of plates, RFID for credit cards, done), some don't charge anything, some state they'll send a bill by standard mail...

Crappy pictures?
Yeah, once you've figured out how to disable all those stupid automatic features of that camera-app, that CAT S61 does astonishingly well...
Love the multiple little cabins too.
IMHO the beST way to spend the night...

Did you use your own tie down straps or did the ferries always supply them?
On some ferries they have straps, but maybe not enough (like on the Colour Line to Oslo it said "only 2 straps per motorcycle"), on smaller vessels there might be none...
So better be prepared and bring your own...

Geez, all these crappie pictures.
Obviously I should accompany you on your next Norway trip and take the photos for you. :rofl1: :rofl1:
Was fortunate to take a few days liberty when our sub docked in Trondheim in the 70s, and some of us took a horseback camping trip up into the mountains. No roads, and I loved it.
Beautiful country.
