sitting in traffic im heating way up - im just about 5mm below the red line, then as soon as i hit throttle and start rolling again it drops to about the 2/3 mark, and normal riding rests around 1/3 to half mark.

the fan only kicks in just around 5mm below red line. - is that normal?

im looking at just throwing a manual switch onto the fan in addition to the sensor one. no big deal just seeing if maybe my sensor is wrong too?

so when should the fan cut in?

cheers all

Mine did that last year and ended up being a bad t'stat. also check your coolant level, if it is a little tiny bit low it can do that. Good luck....
