RAM mount

Does anyone have an opinion on whether to opt for the plastic mounts or the metal mounts?
I have a Garmin 2610 which has served me well in the car for a couple of years, and I was intending to mount it on top of the dash well within line of sight.

Plastic? Metal? Huh? All of my RAM products are some sort of plastic... Wasn't aware 'metal' was an option....

I was just wondering if there were any issues with either type, apart from the price difference

Well, here is my experience with plastic RAM components. While I have not had a plastic base mount break, it did happen to a plastic arm, which broke at the socket. Fortunately I was using it in my vehicle when it broke; I'd hate to have had that happen on my motorcycle. I now have both the plastic and metal arms, and I use the metal arm when I have the GPS on my motorcycle.

Yeah I would feel better about a metal arm.

The 2610 is pretty heavy. I'd go with metal arms and the rubber covered metal balls.
