As some might be aware the Pirelli Angel ST is available in sizes to fit the ST1300. I've been using them on my FJR and reckon they are a very good tyre. Apparently, they're suitable for heavy weight tourers and where even used on a GTR1400 and a Hayabusa for breaking several 24 hr high speed endurance records in Italy. See this:

So I thought I'd contact Pirelli and see what they had to say about using the Pirelli Angel ST on the ST1300. Heres the reply:
Hi Tony,
We do have those sizes available in Angel ST but they are not currently
homologated for use on the ST1300.

I did a quick Wiki search to define "homologated" and this is what I came up with:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homologation_(motorsport)
It's almost unbelievable that you can punt a GTR1400, which is about the same weight as the ST1300, around a race track at high speed for over 24 hours on these tyres but Pirelli/Honda wont endorse the same for street use on an ST1300! Go figure!
Anyway, back to the same boring tyre choices.
