How far did you get on the tyre before it went like that, 10k, 20k, 30K miles?

Not sure, since I was the second owner and I bought it from a dealer. The bike had 19,400 miles on it when I got it, and it now has 25,400. They were not new when I got the bike, and most of the wear had to have come from my 3500 mile Grand Canyon trip. Its definately something I will be paying way more attention to, and tire pressure.

Tell me more....I'm intrigued. I have heard and read somewhere that there is a car tire that fits, is that able to be mounted on the stock wheel? Links?

Looks like some life left in the middle. I take it you don't have a heavy wrist. Maybe you should start enjoying the middle of that tire more.
I would like to know mileage too. What tire is it?

Bridgestone G 850, but as stated, I have no way of knowing the total mileage, but I put on 6,000 since I bought the bike back in March

I learned that lesson as well. Once you see the wear bars, start shopping.
They will wear noticably faster when the weather is warm and the pavement is hot.
I waited so long on my last rear tire that the dealer who mounted the new one asked me if he could hang my old tire on the shop wall with a sign under it saying "don't wait this long" !!!

Oh hot weather and hot pavement as in 100+ degrees for 8 days to the Grand Canyon and back? LOL

It's surprising how fast a tire can go.

This one went from being a little thin to this in just 300 miles. I'm going to switch at just past the wear bars from now on. This is pushing it a little to far

Joe created a catagory here on this site called "Darkside" where there is a wealth of information on this topic. The best part of this site of the sharing of information. You find a good amount of that there and that could help you determine which car tire is best for your bike.

If you can run a car tire that would get you nearly 30,000 miles on it for less than a MC tire ...... would you run it ?
