Are PR 3's that much better than PR 2"s?

I am hoping to draw on the experiences and observations from those who have had both Michelin PR 2's and PR 3"s on their ST1300.

I'm running Michelin PR 2's now and am very pleased with all aspects (except tire howl) of how the tires are wearing and how they grip in all conditions.

I'm about to order another set.

Is it worth the extra money to order the PR 3's?

Is there any difference in handling or wear between the 2 tires that should make me choose the PR 3's?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

I've got a front PR3 and it's good. It's actually hard to compare properly since I took off a PR2 with 14,000 miles on it (including two trips to Moonshine) and replaced it with a brandy-new PR3. New beats worn.

The PR2 was finally into the wear bars and was howling when leaning off center. The PR3 is nice and quiet, but so would another new PR2.

It was nice to have a new front tire for my ride to CT-STOC in a frog strangler...seems to be a good tire in the wet.

I think the tread pattern looks cool...it had a bunch of people at CT-STOC and Vermont asking me what kind of tire I had on the front.

Not sure that helps but that's what I've got after about 500 miles with a PR3 on the front.

I'm on my second set of PR2's. I have a friend that went to the 3's on a different bike. PR3's are superior in the rain but the 2's have served me well; I thnk they are the best tires I have ever owned.

When I mounted the PR2's, they wanted $100 more for the PR3's. For that difference, I'll stay with the 2's. The front is awfully loud, though.

I like My PR 2's but I had Z 6 before, and they were great. For me court is still out until I get more miles on the 2's. The Z6's had 11,500 on them when I changed out. It was the second set, the previous owner had put on what is now my ST, I guess he liked them too.
