Saw mention of this waterproof radar detector on another site. Does anyone here use the Adaptiv detector? If so, what's the word on how well it works, especially relative to the Escort and Valentine?

After having fried a V-1 in the rain, I really like the fact that this unit is waterproof. I also like that you can get a wireless headset to go with it.

Have one, never had the others so I don't know how they compare. I am on my 2nd one the first leaked but they replaced it no questions. I have not really had the 2nd in the rain so I can't say how it will do.

Fill in some blanks Dave......please.

How long have you owned the unit? Are you happy with it? Is it worth the money? Would you buy it again?

I'm looking for one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and still gets the job done. This one looks interesting.

Thanks.

I have had it for about a year, well 1 season (about 25K on it). The unit seems to work well, though without having had any other brands I really do not know how it compares. I feel it does work well enough for me. I do get enough warning to drop the few MPH that I may be over from time to time. It does give false warnings, though I would guess they all do. It is also nice that it comes with the visual and has a plug in for the sound. I use both. Would I buy it again, I am not sure. From what I can find it does fit my needs better than any other though.

I have had one for about three years, replaced once after about six months do to a loose part inside. I have about 50,000 miles or so on it, used exclusively on the bike. Its the only one I have had in recent years. Gives adequate warnings, wired into the autcom system.

Would I buy another one, yes. It has been in all kinds of weather and temps. I have no compliants. regarding false warning, no more than I would expect, E fields (security systems), auto doors (you can set it to ignore them) but it has always provided adquate warning.

I purchased if after I got a ticket passing a slow car (exceeded the speed limit for about 10 seconds). Have not gotten a ticket since but it may not be related. It interfaces well with the autocom.

I've been using a Escort 8500 X50 with good results. I carry a Ziploc bag to cover it if there is rain. In various tests the Escort has proven to be among the best on the market and at $300 will pay for itself with the first save. Google radar detector tests and decide for yourself.

I have had mine for about a year . No problems . The main reason I bought it was that it connects to a BRIGHT LED Light that gets my attention . I bought the add on wireless speaker that attaches to the side of my helmet but I find it does electrically interferes with my bluetooth intercom system and starts to beep false alarms , when I turn off my intercom the radar warning speaker stops false beeps.
So I tend not to use the wireless audio alert and rely more on a visual alert. I have a Valentine 1 for the car . The V1 gives about a 10%-15% faster warning. On saying that would I use a V1 on a motorbike ...NO ! The adaptive is waterproof, easy to adjust with gloves on , has a better visual alert and the 10%-15% difference is really not noticed at 120kph as you are braking anyway and the real difference would maybe a second. The adaptive picks up radar spread well if the law enforcement officer is locking on to someone else. Like all radars if he has his gun off and suddenly zaps you, you are going to stuffed anyway !
