Nice work Bob....;) Hoping that the stars align when I return from my deployment in September to resume my search for a nice '04

Seems to be a few out there now, so by the time Summer is over, I'm sure there will be one with your name on it! :)

Topcase came in today!

View attachment 120958 View attachment 120959

a little about how I got this topcase:

The Dual Sport website that said they could "order" the Topcase for this bike, @$579. So I haven't been in a real hurry. Every time I got on the site, it acted weird, so today (June 27th), I called them, wanting to know how much and how long it would take to get it. The first thing the guy tells me is that '04 has been discontinued. :(
Then says, just a minute. When he comes back he says they had one in the back. Got it for $479 plus shipping! New ones are now $629.

So it cost me $530 and some change. The only two I've seen sold in the last three months, one went for $450 and the other $500. I figured for $530 shipped for a new one still in the box, was a great deal! :woo

I was on another thread and the different recalls were brought up, so I decided to check my VIN to see if my bike was affected. It is, but by only a couple of numbers...

So, my VIN ends with "1350"

The PCV and the Ground Cap recalls were done (there are punch marks in the right places) :)

Thanks Bob!

As you can tell, I'm now doing the FARKLEing on it and will continue to add to this thread. :)

I sold my mini laptop to a forum member and had the money in Paypal already thinking, great I can buy a fuseblock and maybe even a headlight modulator for my project bike! :woo

Then it happened... I'm looking through ebay and what do I see listed? A brand new, still in the box, Saddlebag lid in blue! How often does that happen? Not very, and since it was a buy now, I snatched it up. Of course I had to add a little extra to Paypal to get it, but I wasn't aking any chances on letting this go!

Well, it looks like the fuseblock and headlight modulator will just have to wait another couple of months! ;)

Haven't posted much here lately about what I've been upto, but I'm in the middle of adding electric Farkles. I also just replaced the Map Sensor hose with the rest of the 5 way tee hoses, the fuel injector o-rings and install iridium spark plugs.

As for the electric farkles, headlight modulator, driving lights, Stebel horn, BlueSea Fuseblock with a 50amp relay. I'm using 10ga wire from the battery/starter relay to a 50amp fuse, then to the relay and fuseblock and ground. I have put nylon mesh around each wire. I have the driving lights and horn mounted, but no wires to them yet. and just installed the fuseblock with all but the switched source ready to be hooked up. I'll be starting on the wire harness next. It will be 4 14ga wires for power and a 12ga for ground running up to the front.

I'll get some pictures posted once I have some time to do so.

I finished up the upgrades, :tools1: Headlight Modulator, Stebel Horn :toot1:, Driving lights and a BlueSea fuseblock, including 10ga wire from the battery, to a 60amp fuse (I thought I put in a 50amp, turns out it is a 60amp) connecting up to a 50amp relay. I also created a harness with 4 14ga wires and a 12ga wire(ground) that goes up to the front to connect everything to. So far no gremlins :)

I also added my tip over bars and tipover wings from the '05 along with the V-stream windshield and Daylong Saddle.

I'll ride it in tomorrow and Friday too to make sure I've shaken any bugs out of it before heading up to Sacramento on Friday night (with a stop over in Bakersfield);)

New lid is here, but after having the wife on back for 400 miles over the weekend, I'm in no hurry to put it on just yet! :eek:4:
