Well I put a brand new set of these on the bike before I left for Moonshine. I had 175 miles on them at the start of the trip. I got home yesterday afternoon after about 3500 miles. The rear tire is toast the cords are showing through the center of the tire. We only did about 900 miles of highway the rest was all twisities. This is the lowest mileage I have ever had from a tire. What to try next PR3 I guess. The front onw is not bad but the rear is done!

I talked to Tim at Keel Bros this morning about the same tire. Mine is toast at 2517 miles. Cords showing etc.. I'm fanatical about proper tire pressures and this still happened. The front still seems ok at this point. There's a PR2 on the way to replace the RT2 Rear.

Wow!

It has been a few years, but iirc mine went 5k before I pulled it (didn't have enuff tread for a couple thousand mile trip).

Lanny mine looks the same maybe a little worse. I have a PR2 with only a couple of hundred miles on it it is going back on.

Skyboy needs to weigh in on this one. I know he was running that tire, and I'm pretty sure he loved it. I recall it sticking like glue when we traded bikes for a bit.

I ride in the Mountains fully 90% of the time. I've never had a tire wear in the middle like this one. My tires are normally toast on the outer edges with the excepton of this one. Maybe a bad production run or something.

They felt good but 3500 miles aint going to cut it. And Like Lanny said most of the miles I did were in the mountains in NC, TN, KY, WV and VA. No way the centers should have worn down like that. :no1:

That is unreal. I ran through a set of the first version and liked them. They didn't get any less than the other tires I've tried, about 8K miles. Just mounted the PR3's so don't know how far they'll go but have felt great from the first mile.

What the heck are you folks doing to those tires? I can't comment on the RA2's, but I ran a set of the original Road Attacks on my ST and got 10.5K before I took them off. I cut them open to see how close I was to the cords, and found I still had the thickness of a credit card before cord. When you say most of your riding was in the mountains, I wonder how hard you are getting on, and getting off the throttle? Perhaps this is why they are going to continue making the original RA's. Metzeler did the same thing on their Z6's. The original, then the new and improved, then back to the original again.
I'm going back to the RA's when my Metzelers wear out. I've found nothing yet that grips as well in both wet and dry.
Obviously YMMV.

Well we rode as many of the twisty roads we could in the time we had. We did 421 the snake, 129, the Cherohala skyway and then 441 to 421 in KY we rode kind of hard but not hard enough to shred tires like that. The guys I rode with had PR3's and showed none of the wear I got.

Steve, my PR3's at the end of the trip have 5000 on them and still look great. I am amazed you had cord showing after only 3500. Good thing you did not see that on Sat or you would not have wanted to ride in the rain..

Wow...that is some fast treadwear. I plan to give my PR3s a careful inspection this weekend.

Thanks Tim that would be cool. I knew they were a grppy softer tire but never thought I would wear one out that fast I was expecting 5-6K at least.
