I just use huge slip joint pliers, works for me and they were already in my tool box. They do have a tendency to scratch the paint job on the filter just before I throw it away :tools1:

Being a tool using monkey, I took a spare 7/16 deep-well socket, a side grinder with a thin cutting wheel, and a foot off the end of a ratchet strap. It ain't pretty but it pulled off a seized Yamaha round O ring filter with only a 7/16" impression in the side.

Well done. looks like you just slipped the end of the strap back through the slot to make the loop, does that hold good. I might have to do this.
I have a three prong thingy that work pretty good. I like the idea of the strap though.

Thanks Al.
I believe the PC term I am looking for is Field Expedient. Personally I think it comes from places I've lived and vehicles I've owned, but who knows. ;)

YW
I always tell the guys at work;
Improvise

I looked it up and the meaning;
Produce or make (something) from whatever is available.

Sounds like your good at doing that too. :)
