Since Michelin does not produce the 160/70 for rear, would the 160/60 fit? I fear a malfunction of the TCS and/or the ABS.

It will fit but the bike sits up straighter when on the center stand and I've had the bike blown over when parked in a 45mph crosswind because of the lower profile tire. That being said, I do love the Michelin PR2 in the wind, rain or what have you as long as front and rear are inflated to at least 42 lbs and the tire wear is good at that pressure. I have about 10K on mine front and rear and about 3/16th to the wear bars front and rear.

I've heard the PR3s are even better.

I have heard of people using the 170/60-17 on their 1100's. I do like the PR2 on my 03 ST. I have not tried any non stock tires on my ST1100's.

As well you should... it happens when riders go to the dark side with a car tire too.

Not saying it will in your senario, but the way the system works is, it compares the speed of the front to the speed of the rear tire. Obviously it really has no idea the speed of the pavement of weather or not the tire is sliding...

Has anyone considered the 150/70-17 PR2/3?

My calculations show that the 150/70 would only be .55" shorter than the stock size (25.82" vs 25.27"). The difference between the 160/60 and stock is even worse (1.26" shorter).

The width difference is .39" (assuming my mm to inches conversion is right!) which is less than .2" per side, 6.3" vs 5.9".

Not having an ABS bike it's not as critical for me but keeping as close to stock height is for handling.

Thoughts?

Darkside problems with TCS,,,yes,,,with the PR3,,no issue in two PR# and many PR2s. The falling over thing is valid however.:

I was thinking of a Michelin Pilot Road 3 on the front and a Bridgestone BT 023 on the rear. I can get this combo in stock sizes.

Has anyone tried this combo?
