Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014?

Did we get anything?
Just a new Goldwing Valkyrie. Nothing to more to see at Honda- just move along folks. Japanese brand sport-touring fans don't get anything new for 2014 unless they go to the Yamaha dealer for the 2014 FJR 1300 ES. (But that's a pretty sweet consolatation prize!)

So now we have 3 wing based bikes all based on a 13 year old bike. Talk about squeezing the last drop out of a design. Did GM management from the 80s take over Honda?

Perhaps it is time to queue up Taps for the venerable/vulnerable ST1300.

Yep, stick a fork in it.

Honda is in the business to make money + "Americans" want cruisers = Valkrie, F6B, CTX.

Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014?

Something has to happen "soon". Of all the many bikes on the Honda USA website only these don't have a 2014 model: (1) the CBR250R which we know is being replaced by a 300cc version. (2) The CB1100 which has a 2013 model up. (3) The VFR1200F which has a 2013 model up (4) the ST1300 which has only a 2012 model up. It is hard to believe they will leave a 2012 model up so one would expect it to completely disappear from the site or a 2014 model shows up. Seems to late to throw a 2013 model up even though there is one on the Canadian site. So maybe they are saving the best for last or maybe the ST1300 is truly done. Either way I bet it happens before January 1st 2014.

ACTUALLY you can still click on the 2010 ST1300 also. Why make a new one when you have who knows how many 2010 and 2012 leftovers?

I still love my 2006, I'm happy.:):):)

Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014?

Last year I would have thought that Honda would have responded to what the rest of the industry was doing with their sport touring platforms like the C14, K1600, Throphy SE and FJR. I was hoping for the long rumored VFR-T (or something) with big fuel tank, stronger powerplant, technically advanced, etc. The guessing and waiting games have gotten way too old. I would have loved to see Honda respond with some sort of intercontinential cruise missle of a bike. Like most of you, I really want to see the ST1300 taken to the next generation. I really don't want to stop caring, but I'm heading that way very fast.

Honda get your defecation coagulated !!!

Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014?

The St1300 leftovers will will stay in the catalog until they are sold. When you can't sell leftovers, there is no reason to build new ones. But let's look at the Real problem: no model changes or updates.

I attended a Honda focus group at a MSTA STAR rally years ago and when the ST1300 was discussed, everyone told them it needed cruise control. The Honda rep just rejected that out of hand. You can tell them what you want, but they don't want to hear it!

Hate to sound like a broken record here, but the contrast provided by Yamaha with the FJR is stark. When I rode my friend's 2013 gen III, I was amazed at the refinement and improvements over the previous models. Everything is so logical and works so well. The biggest complaint about the 13 model was that the cruise control max speed is only 80mph. Presto- the 14 model max is 100.

The Honda ST1300 could still be a premier sport-touring model if it had been updated. Honda let it lie and let it die. I'm s disappointed as anyone...

Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014?

It is now apparent that Honda has decided all markets worth supporting, are covered. I'm not sure what stage of life cycle we've entered into: the beginning-of-the-end or the end-of-the-end of the ST1300 but let me say right now that it's been a good run and like many of the industry's beloved models that have long since passed, retired or just faded away, this one too will be sorely missed.

Have you hugged your bike today?

I guess it's time to put this thread on the ignore list.

Thanks Honda...

What this thread needs is an animated smiley sticking a fork into an ST1300. My love for the current design was lost long ago, but I find it quite unfortunate that Honda has chosen not to play in the US sport-touring sandbox at all - they could AT LEAST give us the new VFR800, the sub-litre class of bikes are selling pretty well in North America.

Maybe we've become orphans....or classics....the fork of the family tree that branched out, dead ended and DIED......the sport touring specific mc no longer exists....from Honda....long live the ST:capwin:

Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014?

Seems to me just two weeks ago everyone was saying that they were hearing it would be two months before news on the ST comes out...IT'S ONLY been two weeks! Sheesh! What short memories you all have....but then again, most of us are over 40, so short memories are expected! :rofl1:

I should have the '04 back up and running by Dec 1. Then the '10 goes down for a spell until I can get it down to the stealers to do the recall on it.

It's already tomorrow in Japan...wonder if that's all the new product announcements we're getting from Honda.
