A major point in favor of the Doran is the ability to *add* the sensor to an existing valve stem. This looks like I could install the right-angle valve stems and add TPMS sensor. I like that a lot! If Orange used or could be used with those valve stems, that would tip the scale.
In my case, I did prefer externally mounted sensors simply for the convenience of replacement. First, you need to have metal valve stems, then determine if you have room to clear the brake calipers. On the FJR, there is no room on the front for an external mount regardless of valve stem. If you mount the Doran internally you need to use their threaded valve stem, 90 or straight come with the set. Orange is internal, not a deal breaker IMHO. On all the sensor batteries will die eventually and it's a matter of inconvenience when you want to replace the sensor, as you have to at minimum break the tire bead. Again not a deal breaker, it's same on automotive TPMS.

I also prefer 90 degree valve stems, however, before I had them I made up an air chuck out of fittings commonly available at your hardware store and could inflate the straight valve stems a lot easier. On the road, more of a PITA to connect most portable compressors.

Valve stem adapters one could use for filling..... again a matter of convenience....... http://www.amazon.com/Pacific-Dualies-18090-Degree-Extension/dp/B002L9J0VI

I just use the screw-on sensors that are PSI-specific. A glance shows me they are green when full, the yellow band shows when starting to get low, and then the red starts to show. Whenever I put a new set on, I check them a few times to make sure all is well and they aren't defective. Haven't had a problem yet. You can order exactly what you need. I have 42's on the ST and a 36 on the front of my Magna and a 40 on the rear.http://www.ebay.com/itm/26-80psi-TPMS-Tire-Pressure-Monitor-Valve-Stem-Cap-Tyre-Sensor-Indicator-Variant-/271010516122?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=570099725433&hash=item3f197c4c9a

I did not know that. I've got the "90 degree" valve stems from Mani (waiting for on opportunity to install them) so that's out. I've got a hose that screws on to the stem when it's time to top off the tires. But I have to over fill a little since some are is lost putting it on and taking it off.

I *like* those! I had some similar stems in plastic for my cars, years ago. I want to get my hands on a pair of 42s. Thanks for the link!

The Orange TPMS will also. I set mine up to alternate between pressure and temperature on the display. Sensors are internal wich has good and bad points, but should give more sensitivity to tire temperature.

Lot's of options. Will want to know how yours turns out in case my Orange dies.

I still have two Orange TPMS units available for sale, but will be very interested to see the results of Steve's unit as I have no loyalty to Orange and no love loss :D

I hear you Larry I hope it is a good reliable unit looks like this company primarily does trucks tractor trailers etc. But talking to Deion he told me their MC unit will also do a trailer you just have to program the sensors. So it sounds like what I have been looking for. I might have gone for one of the Orange units but after reading about what happened I decided to look elsewhere. Also the external sensors are easier to service and you can change the batteries in them.

Do you have to re-balance the wheel when you install those? I would consider a set.

No doubt Dave. I enjoy my 300'+ secluded driveway except when it's winter and I have to clear it.
