Once again, it's time to make the annual announcement! Last year's event in June created a bit of timing conflict for some, so after having discussed the timing thing with certain esteemed individuals, we're back to the traditional date in August. This was established by Chris and Sam years ago, and for good reason. We'll gather together the weekend before Labour Day, August 22nd to 25th.
The 2012 event was in Muskoka, the 2013 location will be a lot closer to the US/CDN border, in Prince Edward County. smugglerscove.ca Our American friends need only get past the lake, and you're there! I'll try a link to a map as well: http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&sug...&ved=0CI4BELYD
This last while, I spent a bit of time looking around, and found a cottage/campground which has pretty decent cottages, as well as tent camping. Rates were negotiated, and a reservation was put in place. I booked their A-frame, which will sleep five in separate beds, and also reserved both smaller cottages. These lend themselves to couples, as well as singles. I'll post cottage cost details a bit later. Campsites are just $45. plus tax for the three nights (per person). The owners are away for the winter; so it won't be possible to book directly with them. Further booking and rate details to follow!
An interesting way to get to Prince Edward County, if you're coming from the US, is to take the ferry to and from Wolf Island. This'll land you in Kingston, Ontario. From there, it's a scenic ride to the third ferry crossing at Glenora, which will put you in the county. The American ferry to Wolf Island is privately owned and charges a small fee; the other two are free.
More to come......
