I'm riding over to the "Party" on Thursday so I can welcome all ya'll when you finish. Have fun . . . ride safe.

PS: If anyone is interested in buying an aux tank for an ST1300, I'll have my IBR tested one there for sale.

Well, as I am new to this, I may be missing something. "Party"....Am I going to miss it? I plan to end my ride at my house on the north side of Jax. (Yes, My own bed)
But........
Goal 1) Make my ST worthless due to high milage!
Darksider.......yeah, I know.
This event is fondly referred to as the "IBA Jacksonville pizza party" from its origins when a bunch of long distance iron butt types were hangin out in JAX, telling stories and whatnot and when they got hungry... They ordered a bunch of pizzas! Go figure! The modern version of the party is the awards ceremony at the comedy club in the ramada where you will receive your certificate from "Lord Kneebone" (Michael Kneebone, president, IBA) himself and then the sit down banquet afterwards. Of course, I've never been to this party either so who knows what really happens?!?! (I CAN tell you the hotel bar is pretty rowdy right now!)![]()

You pays your fee and the banquet has a seat for you . . . you don't have to stay at the hotel. Then again, you don't even have to attend the banquet to meet and greet, kick tires and make friends.
Kind'a nice to share food and smiles with others of a like mind.
Look forward to meeting another Florida rider and . . . I go through Lexington a lot. Hope I get to see you Slasher.

Well I started like a Lion and ended with a meow.
But learned a lot!!
Meet a very nice couple that helped out a nubie.
First off, my 7 yr old GPS would not cooperate and then the charged battery died after just 2 hrs. So, I fall in behind a couple of riders and tag along. They stopped for fuel, so I did too and meet the Gillespie's. They offered for me to tag along and I took them up on it. So using my Iphone, I see it was at 1% and go to plug in and see that my accessory plug is not working so my GPS has not been charging and my Iphone is dead. Thanks to the Gillespies again, they have a USB port.
After stop 5 or 6 , we stop for gas and as I pull up to the pump, I lower my kickstand but I guess did not fully stop and dropped my bike into the pump and rail around it.
Another rider help me get it up and looked like no damage. Great!! I finish fueling and go to move the bike to the side and see that my windsheild is bent. It bent the rail supports. With all of that, and being a third leg anyway, I called it quits. But have taken away some very good things learned. And some new friends!!
Im going out to fix the shield and go down to Flaggler for the RTE.
edit: As another sign that I did the right thing, When I went to uppack the bike.....the GPS is on and charging.....
and a sign I have some electrical issues to work on.![]()

Hey Bill, no worries, I learn something every time I do a IBA run. This time I learned that you REALLY REALLY have to watch where you park this top heavy beast! I was at the last battlefield and just as I step off the bike..... CRUNCH! Down she goes like a sack of potatoes! It must've bumped me on its way down since I ended up flat on my back on the sidewalk laughing hysterically! There were three other riders at the last stop and they helped me pick up my baby. My bike didn't fare as well as yours did though. I busted the right mirror cover, destroyed my (brand new) windshield, and managed to mess up my helmet face shield too! It was an adventure running that last 186 miles in 34° temps with no windshield! I never knew my heated jacket could go that high! I could smell my roadcrafter suit smoking and I was still cold, lol! Oh well, my official end time was 1:26 AM. Maybe next year will be your year!
