In a nut shell your sales rep is wrong there is a difference the BT20F's are made to support and handle the weight of the ST1300 and are the OEM tireBT20G (general) is softer and wears much faster. I purchased my 05 ST 1300 with a set of BT20G's and quickly went through the tread on the rear tire even the sides wore quickly leaving it looking like a "v" with about a 2 inch flat stripe across the bottom. Good news is the front tire did hold up better than the rear I got about 11/2 riding seasons out of it. I have switched to using BT20F's, for my riding style, I enjoy them. I may now be forced to buying the BT23Gs this season. Hope this helps you can also search this site for tires and read for days about mileage of each brand along with pros and cons.

My dealer put on an E model for the BMW RT by mistake. I got about the same mileage from it on the rear as the F model gave me on the rear of my 03. My 09 came with 020F's and they lasted about the same -about 7,500 miles. I won't try them again. For me it is a Pilot Road 2 and Elite 3 front.

I see you are in Canada- keep in mind Bridgestone states that their tires are not to be exposed to temperatures below 32f or they could crack. They are aware of tires doing this, and their official stance is to not expose their tires to below freezing temps, and their tires are for summer use. YYMV, just passing along what Bridgestone stated to me after my tire cracked severely.
