I recieved my lights today and just finished the install on my ST1100.

Started with this.

Removed the mirror cover, and marked where I wanted to mount the lights. I mounted the lights in the strip that stays on the upper faring.

Drilled the holes, a little at a time up to the 13/64th size. Press fit them into place, nice fit.

Just cause I'm a little OCD, I put some hot glue on the back of the lights.

Wiring was straight forward, and easy to connect.

Finished up both sides, everything back in its place.

Working very nice!! :D

Now, it is off to Moonshine in the morning! :hamburger

Nice job! And good idea to place them on that plastic strip of cowl. I wrapped mine in black Gorilla tape and taped them on the out- side of mirror.

Thanks Stan for a firST rate kit. Ever since I saw the light kit for the 1300, I thought I could do this on the 1100. I've been thinking of the best way to add them to the 1100 for a while. Very happy with the way they "turned" out. :D

Nice work!

And thanks for the pics. I always like seeing variations on the theme.

My little red strip is long gone. Is there another way to mount these on an ST1100?
How about finding a piece of black plastic corner trim/protector and cut to fit in place of the little red strip. That is all it is any way, it just screws to the upper body work between the mirror and faring.

Something like this.

You could use any color plastic, & just paint it. Although the black might just look OK.

If you could make it up for my Tech Event, I could help you with it.

Gary.

Thanks!

I wonder if I could glue something like that (maybe radius the edges with a Dremel) on the outer edge of the mirror.

The original strip is just held in place with one screw, I think. It would be easy to shoot a small self thread type screw for plastic and hold it tight.

The piece in question is held in place by a push rivet. The piece and rivet are about $7.50 painted ready to install.
