Hi Guys,
I'm going to the Isle of Man this spring and have reserved a GSF 600 to get around while there.

The trip will start out in London , ferry over to the IOM for a week to watch the TT race , then about 5 days to ride around Ireland.

I have some questions on the bike .

Will my magnetic tank bag work ?

How do the ergos compare to the ST1300 ? will it be more upright or more sportbike like ?

I've purchased a 12 volt outlet to temporarily install, Will it be easy to access the battery terminal for that ? Are the battery bolts about the same size as the St1300 ?

Thanks , Stan

I wish I could help you Stan but I too would love to make that trip. Just to get a chance to ride the IOM course would be worth it. Take some pictures or video of it if you can maybe you can show us a movie at FLSTOC later in the year. ENJOY!

The Bandit is a great bike. That's what I traded in when I got the ST1100 and mainly just because it wasn't powerful enough to ride with 2 adults and still keep up with the rest of the group. The Bandit is a very comfortable ride and has a much more standard upright seating position than most sportbikes. As someone else stated it does indeed have a metal tank so shouldn't be a problem with the tank bag and the battery is relatively easy to access. If my wife would have let me keep it I most certainly would still have it. I may pick one up again someday to have as lighter errand running bike.

Hi Guys,
I'm going to the Isle of Man this spring and have reserved a GSF 600 to get around while there.
Are you sure it's not a GSF 650? I believe the 600 was discontinued in 2005.

This website will give you numbers for the difference: http://cycle-ergo.com/

.....ST1300 - forward lean = 8 deg.
Bandit 650 - forward lean = 12 deg.
Bandit 600 - forward lean = 17 deg.

There are other measurements on the site that might be of interest to you.

I've got a GSF 1250 and it has the same ergos as the 650. There is a definite difference between the ST's ergos & the Bandit but it's not hugely noticeable. It's like most Standards I've ridden. The ergos are nowhere near that of a sport bike. For instance, the CBR600 has a forward lean of 29 degrees.

I'm pretty sure the 650 has a metal tank so your tank bag should work.

If you want some particulars on either the 600 or 650, go to Maximum-Suzuki.

P.S Quite frankly I'd do that trip on a Sportster with one bad plug..........

I owned a Bandit 1200 for 3 years. The Bandit had a longer reach to the handlebars, so more pressure on the wrists and shoulders. It is still considered standard, so its not a CBR racing position. Its fine for a 100 miles, but I traded it in for the ST as the comfort factor is so much greater on the ST. Also, the 600 has an easy reach to the ground, a turbine smooth engine and weighs 200 lbs less than the ST. Good luck.

Thanks Mick, the bike was a 600 and after checking the mentioned ergo site, it was significantly more "sport' than the 650 which is also around an inch lower .

So I was able to change that to the 650 .
