Just got done installing my new Pilot Road 2s, used counteract beads also. Started the bike on the center stand and ran it to 5500rpm in high gear.. SMOOTH AS GLASS!!!!!!!!!, there was no shake from the tire at all. Have not taken it out on the highway, gonna have to wait for a bit warmer weather..

Hmm... I installed PR3s on my ST1300 less than a month ago. Didn't seem to be a problem getting the sizes needed, but perhaps there are still some in the distribution channel(s). When (and where) did you hear about Michelin discontinuing ST1300 sizes? I'm very surprised they would do that, but then I've noticed that Michelin is really pushing the new PR4s. Is that their strategy?

I just had two PR2 rears delivered today. I already have one PR2 front sitting in my shelves.

Michelin's web site no longer lists our size in either PR2 or 3. Also they are no longer listed in the parts unlimited catalog. As well as my dealer (who is my brother in law) told me he can no longer get PR2's or 3's in my size. If you are getting them it is last years stock that someone still has.

I picked up the two PR2 rears for $148 apiece, shipped off ebay. I had ordered a "set", Front & Rear, from the same guys back in December. They currently have front PR2s for $137:

Hope this clears up the situation, I emailed Michelin last week, and this is their response:

Hello Fred,
Thank you for your email. We welcome the opportunity to serve you.
In regards to the email you sent stating:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Has Michelin stopped making the PR series tires for the Honda ST1300 Motorcycle? We're hearing rumors on the ST-Owners.Com forum that such may be the case. I hope not, the PR2s are my go-to tire for my ST!

Thanks,

Fred

That may be what someone there said, But the fact is they are no longer listed on either the Mich site or Parts unlimited. Also my dealer/brother in law just tonight tried to order me a front in a PR3 and was told by parts unlimited that they can no longer get them.

Maybe it's the retailers not wanting to carry them so they can charge more for the PR4s?:shrug2:

I had a hard time finding a front PR3 and rear PR2 last November. The 2/3 combo worked well for me. I have a friend that works for the largest or second largest tire wholesaler in the US and he said the Purchase Order for PR3 18" fronts from Michelin wasn't going to be filled for 5 weeks. I couldn't wait and went back to Bridgestone BT023s, this time in the GT specs. I had forgotten how much better the 023s handled for me.

Curious....what are the build dates for PR2s these days? Are they current as PR3s?

True, but once you open the tire size list http://motorcycle.michelinman.com/tires/michelin-pilot-road-3#dim

Here is what is listed

110 70 ZR 17 M/C ( 54 W ) TL
110 80 ZR 18 M/C ( 58 W ) TL
120 60 ZR 17 M/C ( 55 W ) TL
120 70 ZR 17 M/C ( 58 W ) TL

We need a 120/70/18. The only 18 inch listed is a 110. And for the rear we use a 170/60/17. Here is the list for the rears.
150 70 ZR 17 M/C ( 69 W ) TL
160 60 ZR 18 M/C ( 70 W ) TL
160 60 ZR 17 M/C ( 69 W ) TL
180 55 ZR 17 M/C ( 73 W ) TL U
190 55 ZR 17 M/C ( 75 W ) TL
190 50 ZR 17 M/C ( 73 W ) TL

No 170 in the bunch.

The list for the PR2 is even less.

Am I missing something?

??? Here's a link to them. Are we looking at the same site?
