I'm curious what the electrical output of the DL650 is, with regards to how much is available to power accessories? And has there been changes in the output through the years, making certain years better to look for?

I'm looking to get a 2nd bike, hopefully within the next month, and I'm flip flopping between the Wee (economy, light weight) and the Super Ten (cushy, shaft drive, power, and more).

400W on the DL650 - I'm not sure how much is left after the bike's basic functions are covered but a headed liner and gloves start taxing whats left real fast and many, including myself, have installed the eastern beaver headlight cutoff which will turn off one of the two headlights saving a few watts. In fact, with just a few extra led rear lights and my CB/GPS going my battery monitor will start blinking at me if I'm sitting at a stop light too long w/brake and singnals on. I'm not sure what that really means as it goes to green quickly once you get moving but it does give you an idea how close you are to the line.

The Super Ten is better at around 600 watts I think and never had any issues - battery monitor was always green.

I think about 125 to 150 watts are available for aftermarket accessories. An owner should be able to verify those figures.

Thanks. That sure doesn't leave much for heated gear or accessory lights- and this would be my go-to bike during spring & fall when the roads are rougher (and temps are cooler). Its also when it gets dark sooner, so lights are important. As much as I hate to spend more money I'm so tempted to spend the extra for the Super Ten. The Wee is such a great little bike though!

I agree, once I hit the brights and the extra Aux LEDs it doesn't take long at all before the battery monitor starts blinking IF my heated gear is on too.. just the jacket.

I think you'd be happier with the Super Ten myself.

I think the Wee's output is a little marginal for heated gear and all those lights you spoke of...... and for what you intend. I got to think about my Wee too and will go for the Easter Beaver headlight cut-off, but that won't help you in the dark........ The Wee's headlights are decent though.
