I suppose so, most michelin tires I just balance and if it appears it needs too much weight I'll let the air out an move the tire on the rim but I've only done that once, most of the time the ties only need less than an ounce of weights and sometimes none.

We put a new PR4 on Cary's 1300 on Tuesday. I temporarily balanced the bare wheel (taped old weights on,) mounted the tire. then rechecked the balance. The mounted unit required the same amount of weight (one oz) as the bare wheel, in almost the same place. We've mounted a number of Michelins, and found them to be pretty consistent. But, as Tim points out, always balance your tires. Even if the tire doesn't need balancing, the wheel will.

Well I have gone through a rear PR4 GT. I have to say its a love hate at this point. I love the way they are in the rain and dry, but I am not happy with the mileage. I have only 7K on the rear and its all but done. I normally got 10 to 12K from a PR3 and as much as 14 on 1 set. At this point I am putting a PR3 on next.

I just gave up waiting on the PR4 front and ordered a PR3 front instead to go with the PR4 in the back. 16,000 miles on my current PR3 front, no complaints here.

The fronts are arriving now at the big guys, I got two emails this morning that they are back in stock (Revzilla and Motorcycle Superstore). These two aren't the cheapest, by about $10 or so, but they have them now. I'd expect everyone else will by next week- so better pricing is out there.

Hmm. That's not good news! I only got 7,900 miles on my last PR3 rear. Granted many of those miles were on Hwy 36 and in the Fortuna area. We were doing a WeSTOC XIX recon run checking out the rides/roads in the area. The side treads were worn to the bottom of the threads on one side of the blocks. The center of the tires still looked OK.

I was hoping for more from the PR4 GT. :(

Run your tires at 46 psi rear and 44 psi front. I ride two up 90% of the time and still get better than 10k out of a set of tires. Currently running PR3's looking to go PR4's when these are shot.
The tires are balanced.

What are you doing to your tires? I have 7K on the rear pr4gt and it still looks good. I expect to get 12K out of it.

No idea, I have only ever gotten this little from 2 others and 1 was the OEM BT20 and the other I know how I killed them. Can you say a week in NC.. But it was fun. LOL This set had no abuse, I have no idea why it did not last. Anyway I have a PR3 that should be here Wed to put on.
