I'm headed to Moonshine in 6 days, looking for some LDR IBA knowledge.
I'm already registered for the SS1K to Moonshine.
Does anyone know if after I check in, can I continue down the road 250 and come back and apply for my BB1500? I'm already an IBA member so I believe a U-turn is allowed. (I'll have to go look to be sure). But I have a guy who isn't certified yet following me so the U-turn might be a moot point anyway.
Anyone ever turn their Moonshine SS1K into a BB1500?
I'm thinking I could apply for it as long as I follow the original rules and keep all receipts, but with the predetermined start points for the Moonshine I didn't know if there was any disqualifier.

I think Kreis W. did it two years ago, but you won't get an instant certificate for it, you'll have to send your receipts to the IBA.

Sure, you can get both a SS1000 and BB1500 on one trip. I just did it a few weeks ago.

Just make sure you get a dated gas or food receipt at the U-turn point and document the finish time. The SS1000 will be imbedded in the BB1500.

I understand the SS1K will be embedded, my question is more of a rules thing than a how-to.
Given that the Moonshine Run is a pre-approved start point, I'm curious if the route for those 1K will qualify in the BB1500.
Does my concern make sense? I mean, if I was planning a BB1500 I would make sure my route qualifies and then get both the SS1K and the BB1500, but as the rules for the Moonshine run only care about start point and end point (with mid points for some) during THAT ride I don't need to worry about route. So i'm basically just adding 500 onto a pre-approved ride.
I guess i am looking for someone to point me to where I can get an official answer, or looking to see if anyone has done this specific ride and added 500 miles in the past and have the IBA approve and certify you.

Thanks guys!

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. You are going to complete the Moonshine route for that ride then add another 500. Just document the 1500 in 36 and submit it. A BB1500 is more or less an entry level ride and the IBA rules are clear...it doesn't have to be pre-approved or use a specific route or checkpoints.

Don't feel bad...all I have ever done is 1000s and just did my first 1500. Still, probably 95 or 98% of riders never do either one of these and still fewer document them. I applaud your upcoming ride!
