Had a flat in the rear of the Avon Storm tire. The tire was the only one available last July at the Dealer when I had a flat (away from home) and managed to trash a relatively low mileage Pilot Road 2.

Picture of the plugged tire, ran the plugged tire most of last weekend and for a short lunch ride on Saturday with the local CMA group.

New Michelin Pilot Road 4 is on it's way and should arrive this week.

Wow you took your life in your hands riding on Avon's on an ST. Glad you made it!!
I don't know where the negative info about the avons came from , my buddy only runs the avon storms on his 07 st1300 he has not found any issues with them

Tick, tick, tick.
We had 2 blow outs, at speed, on Avon Storm II tires on our ST1100s.
Raven had one blow while riding in New Mexico, totaled her ST1300.
I believe Jim (another AZ rider) had one fail too.

Like I said:
Tick, tick, tick.

The Avon Storm AV/55 & AV56 was my favorite tire for 50,000 miles I think I rode 7 sets of them on my 05 ST.. Those tires handled a treat on my 1300 and I learned a lot about riding on them. That said when the AV56 was superseded by the Ultra II I never went back to Avons. I have to trust my tires with my life and there are other choices that don't seem to have the question marks the Ultra IIs raised.

I loved my Avons and did 10's of thousands of miles on then on my ST1100's and know many riders who use them consistently without trouble.

They are not rated for the ST1300.

Some folk just don't have a good time with some tyres..... each to his own.....

We are all different, etc etc.....

My Avon wouldn't handle 2-up riding. Went from nearly half tread to nearly bald, with a burned/melted look to it in a 400 mile ride. On the way home from that ride some belts gave out and it lost air. Fortunately we were a half mile from home and made it into the yard on what was left of the tire.

No more Avons for me.

I was a believer in the Avons until I had a rear fail on me it wasn't a puncture it failed from the inside. I would never put them on my ST again. And I loved how they handled in the wet and dry.
