Looks like it was time to change the rear tire ... again. I replaced the BT023GT with another ... I like the handling. 8328 MILES! 10007406_788686174477731_6153125436950123263_n.jpg

This was the previous tire at removal ... the wear pattern is groovy!

Yep, looks like it needed changing! I had a PR2 do that , except on both sides. I was pushing my luck, never again!

I have found that BT 023s are a royal PITA to mount if you do it yourself.

I knew it was getting close ... and I basically put a 20 mile loop on it and that is what I found when I got home. My son and I got it up on a 1x8 on centerstand and it was just wrenching from there ... about removal and installation ... ESPECIALLY for y'all within 50 miles ... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rolins-Tire-Service/1405154319746496 ... I brought the wheel with tire on and the replacement. 15 minutes later I left and it cost ... wait for it .... WAIT FOR IT .... $8.00 ... that's right EIGHT DOLLARS!

No offence intended, but you guys are just nuts to run them rubbers till the carcass peels out... :scared2:
Their small contact patch is the only thing keeping us on the road...
Besides traction issues is there a seriously increased risk of puncture, even sudden deflation...

I'd never run tires below 1,6mm anywhere on the thread surface/pattern... up to this limit the MFG provided his runnable compound... beyond that is only soft stuff intended to glue the thread layer to the construct...
Besides could it result in a serious fine with impounding the vehicle right on the spot and loss of insurance cover due [not safe for road use] in case of an accident (in which it doesn't matter who the causing/guilty party was or of the conditions of them tires had even a causality...)

Is there any other way to ride but heavy on the throttle? LOL. I think >8000 is awesome service out of a BT023. Arkansas chip and seal roads has me burning thru tires on a heavy bike like the ST...always use up the sides first tho...
